If you’ve been searching for information on how to make magic really work, then this is the book for you. Recently back in print, Magical Living won the Sacramento Publishers’ Association awards for best spiritual book and best general nonfiction book; and Reader Views Reviewer’s Choice Award. Magical Living is a down-to-earth, hands-on guide for doers. The first chapter explains in simple terms how to channel your spirit guides by automatic writing. By the third chapter you are talking to plants (and getting answers) . The “Photograph Gazing” chapter shows you how to get your psychic vision operating immediately (even before you finish reading the chapter) . The “Spirit Possession” chapter discusses the pros and cons of spirit possession (unless you have a master magician for a teacher, the only way to get magic to really work is by using spirits; and this chapter explains how to call them in, and what to beware of) .
The “Following Feelings” chapter teaches you how to trust and follow your intuition (by running around naked in the wilderness in the middle of the night) . The “Water Spirits” chapter explains how to find these nature spirits in the first place, and how to use their power to move yourself forward spiritually and to wash off bad moods and bad vibes other people lay on you. Other chapters of the book teach you how to use the power of the earth for healing illness and releasing sorrow and depression; how to put light fiber energy (good feelings) into the food you are cooking; and how to garden by talking to the plants and animals. There are also chapters on managing love relationships, handling oppressive people, and dealing with hurt the way magicians do it.
About the Author: Bob Makransky is a systems analyst, programmer, and professional astrologer. For the past thirty-five years he has lived on a farm in highland Guatemala where he studied Mayan shamanism and astrology with his teacher don Abel Yat Saquib until don Abel's death in 2009.
– “I love this little book! ... Carry this book with you, read and reread the essays, and connect with joy.” – Kathryn Lanier, InnerChange magazine
– “He writes beautifully, clearly, elegantly … he is incapable of an unoriginal thought.” – Joseph Polansky, Diamond Fire magazine
– "I could not get enough! I actually read some of the essays 2 to 3 times and discovered new insights each time. ... A great book to revisit more than once!” – Susan Violante, Reader Views
– “It’s a beautiful little book to carry around for when you just want something to read at odd moments, but I suspect that, for some, it will be a book that’s picked up over and over again. At times, I find myself ruminating over something I read or glance at the contents page to have something jump out at me that’s relevant to the moment. I highly recommend this book to anyone with an open mind and a real willingness to look at themselves and their surroundings.” – J Byrne, Psychic-Magic magazine

Author's Notes: Magic can be defined as the intentional manipulation of luck by means of the deliberate cultivation of intuition. Magic is not a matter of altered states of consciousness, or of ooga-booga rituals to invoke spirits (although it does involve such things) . Rather, magic is a matter of liberating yourself from your social conditioning by learning how to operate on intent – direct knowing and acting; following your own heart – rather than by thought (subscribing to other people's belief systems) . Thus magic can be considered a form of psychotherapy – of dehypnotizing and rehypnotizing yourself to release the obsessive fixation of everyday life.
Our society teaches us that magic is an escape from reality. On the contrary, the practice of magic is a way of coming to grips with reality directly; of seeing the way things really are, and acting on that understanding.
The knowledge of magic is as ancient as humankind. Moreover, all of us already knew it as children; but we have forgotten it in our rush to make a buck and to fulfill our society’s expectations. The time for magic has come around again. Magic and astrology will rise once more if the human race is to survive, not to mention prosper.
