Thought Forms is the sequel to Bob Makransky’s award-winning Magical Living, and it continues the hands-on instruction in how to make magic really work begun in the earlier book. To make magic work it is first necessary to clear out any subconscious agendas which may be obstructing you. Magic doesn’t trump karma – you can cast all the spells and do all the abundance visualizations you want to, but if in your heart of hearts you feel unworthy of wealth or love, it isn’t going to happen for you. To make magic really work it is necessary to dig into your subconscious, and objectively examine (and change) what’s going on down there.
Thought Forms begins with a discussion of different psychological types depending upon on the position of Mercury in your natal horoscope (no astrological knowledge is assumed of the reader, and complete tables and instructions to find out which type you are, are given in the back of the book) . The different types have been conditioned by society in different ways, and they therefore have different spiritual problems to deal with and resolve.
The second chapter of Thought Forms digs into the psychology of social conditioning: how our demonic society has misled you from your true feelings and fooled you into identifying yourself with, and defending, its belief systems (thought forms) instead. Modern society is by its very nature stressful: the way our society keeps itself together is by chaining everyone to an unending treadmill of dissatisfaction, and having them constantly pick at themselves and each other. Only by liberating yourself from your obsessive thought forms of shame (fearing other people’s disapproval) and glory (craving other people’s attention) can you find true joy and fulfillment. If you think you have heard it all regarding the female sexual role, male macho dominance or homosexual stereotyping, read this section to open your mind to another connection! As Freud said, all emotional repression (and the basis of our ugly, shameless, hypocritical society) is sexual repression.
The third chapter of Thought Forms describes the theory underlying magic. What we call everyday life – or the so called “real” world – is actually a specialized form of dreaming. What makes it seem so solid and “real” is your constant, moment-to-moment thinking every second you are awake. If you stop that thinking, or at least slow it down, then the world becomes a lot more dreamlike; and magical things start happening for you.
The final chapter gives detailed instructions for banishing thought forms that are hanging you up; doing creative visualization; defeating black magicians (other people who bring you down) ; and casting out any demons that may be possessing you (in our society lots of people are demon-possessed, so it never hurts to put that question to yourself) . The final section explains how to use tree spirits to prop up your intent and sense of self-esteem, instead of relying on the back-patting and approval of other people.

Author's Notes: Magic can be defined as the intentional manipulation of luck by means of the deliberate cultivation of intuition. Magic is not a matter of altered states of consciousness, or of ooga-booga rituals to invoke spirits (although it does involve such things) . Rather, magic is a matter of liberating yourself from your social conditioning by learning how to operate on intent – direct knowing and acting; following your own heart – rather than by thought (subscribing to other people's belief systems) . Thus magic can be considered a form of psychotherapy – of dehypnotizing and rehypnotizing yourself to release the obsessive fixation of everyday life.
Our society teaches us that magic is an escape from reality. On the contrary, the practice of magic is a way of coming to grips with reality directly; of seeing the way things really are, and acting on that understanding.
The knowledge of magic is as ancient as humankind. Moreover, all of us already knew it as children; but we have forgotten it in our rush to make a buck and to fulfill our society’s expectations. The time for magic has come around again. Magic and astrology will rise once more if the human race is to survive, not to mention prosper.
