Restrictions are just opportunities to learn and grow!
Enchantment Encumbered: the Study and Practice of Wicca in Restricted Environments

Author: O'Gaea and Garr

Publisher: CreateSpace

Category: Wicca/Neo-Pagan Level: All
Enchantment Encumbered includes an introduction to the Craft, with an emphasis on ethics; it discusses beliefs, looks at a Witch's altar and tools, and explores the Wheel of the Year. Then it looks at a few of the myths that inform Wicca, and 'talks about' Wicca's world-view.
Part Two is a complete Book of Shadows, presenting ways to practice when the conventional tools aren't available and circumstances are tightly controlled. Esbats, Sabbats, passages, and magic are detailed -- and yes, there are some spells!
Part Three looks at what to expect when practitioners can finally join others in ritual and celebration. There's advice about gatherings, an overview of Wiccan writers, 'flavors' of Wicca, and other Neo-Pagan religions. Also included is an essay about how to distinguish 'Witchcraft' from 'witchcrap, " some tips about becoming Wicca, and some speculation about Wicca's future.
Appendices consider Hutton's scholarship, magical alphabets, and even offer a few Yule carols!
Author's Notes: We're very excited about this book, and pleased with readers' response to it. We wrote it for inmates, but of course, prisoners aren't the only Pagans whose practice is restricted. We're all under an assortment of constraints, ranging from financial to physical. This book is an excellent primer for beginners, reference for teachers in fields like law enforcement and social work, and an invaluable source for people who'd just like to refresh their perspectives.
Where To Buy: Enchantment is available online from the publisher, through MEM's website, from The Blue Eyed Witch in Tombstone, AZ, and online from Amazon.
