Turning Of The Wheel - A Wiccan Book Of Shadows For Moons & Festivals

Author: Stanley Modrzyk

Publisher: Samuel Weiser, Inc.

Category: Wicca Level: All
"This book of Wiccan rituals contributes to the growing body of Wiccan literature in several ways. First of all, it adds to the Wiccan history. It provides an inside look at the beliefs and evolving practices of the First Temple of the Craft of W.I.C.A., one of America's oldest incorporated Wiccan churches. Written by the Temple's founder and High Priest, this book not only includes rituals from different points in the organization's two decades of history, but also a discussion of changes made through the years in its celebrations of the cycles of the moon and seasons. For Wiccan groups with a similar mythos, this also serves well as a ritual handbook. As explained in this book's first chapter, underlying the Temple's tradition is the belief in the Ultimate Force or Supreme Being, personified as a dual polarity, God and Goddess, equal in power and interdependent. The interplay of the God as initiating principle and the Goddess as manifesting pronciple is a consistent theme throughout the Temple's rituals for both the lunar and sabbat cycles. Groups who share this orientation will find much suitable ritual material in this book." ....From the Forward by Selena Fox New Moon, January, 1993.
Turning Of The Wheel is a Book of Shadows with complete unabridged rituals designed for group use that can be modified for individual use. In the book are rituals to celebrate the New Moon, the Full Moon, and each of the eight festivals that mark the Turning Of The Wheel of Life. Author Stanley Modrzyk not only presents alternative versions of rituals for linar and sabbat cycles, he also comments on differences, encouraging experimentation, modification, and changes so that Wiccan groups from varying orientations will find this book helpful in ritual development.
Author's Notes: As late as 1990 there was no book on any shelf in any store that contained complete, unabridged rituals for celebrating either the Moons or the festivals.. Meanwhile, I had the Temple library with 20 years of rituals available only to a few. I felt that it was time to put them in print so anyone anywhere could benefit and grow from their use, . So I went through the rituals and selected varius ones - several for each of the lunar celebrations - and several for most of the festival celebrations. My goal, in addition to making full rituals available, was to show how each celebration could be approached and worked from more than one perspective and that change was part of the fluidic nature of Wicca. The result was released by Samuel Weiser, Inc., a long known quality occult publishing house, in 1993.
Where To Buy: Still available on Amazon.com and noted in several Wiccan/New Age Book Store websites.
