An Intimate Self-Portrait from American's Most Beloved Craft Elder

Childhood Memories

Author: Cora Anderson

Publisher: Acorn Guild Press

Category: Biography, Neo-Pagan   Level: All

"That night I had a very strange experience. I lay on my bed, half-awake and half-asleep. I glanced toward the window and saw a most delightful sight--there was the most beautiful creature I had ever seen. Before me was a real fairy. She was about a foot tall and very slender. She looked like a tiny golden girl, with blond hair and sparkling blue eyes."
--Cora Anderson, from Childhood Memories

Through sharing personal narrative and spiritual insight, Cora Anderson, elder of the Feri/Faery Tradition, takes us on a journey from her impoverished childhood in rural Alabama to her marriage to the blind poet and shaman Victor H. Anderson.

During their 57-year marriage, the Andersons developed a vibrant Craft tradition that has touched countless lives. This warm, intimate, and sometimes humorous memoir provides a glimpse into the world of a true American hill Witch. Included are some of Cora's recipes, personal spells, and all of her poetry.

This special cloth edition of Childhood Memories is limited to 600 numbered copies.

"This book chronicles Cora’s life. It was not an easy life, but it certainly was an interesting one. Like her face-to-face teaching, her wisdom and knowledge are here for those who can see them... This book began as a project for a writing class Cora took many years ago, and I am glad to see it finished and available to the public. I hope it gives you a glimpse into the type of person she is, and I hope it helps you understand why Cora is universally respected by Feri Witches, regardless of their line."
--Michele Jackson, from the Foreword

Praise for Cora and Victor Anderson

"Visiting Victor and Cora meant stepping into a magical realm hidden behind the facade of an ordinary suburban house. Victor would sit in his rocking chair; I'd ask questions, and he would roam the galaxies in his answers. Cora would chime in with warmth, wisdom and common sense. And then we might go do magic. . ."
--Starhawk, bestselling author of The Spiral Dance

Author's Notes: Cora Anderson is the author of Fifty Years in the Feri Tradition and coauthor, with Victor H. Anderson, of Etheric Anatomy: The Three Selves and Astral Travel. Her articles have been featured in Witch Eye and Circle magazines, and her recipes have been published in Women's Circle and T. Babes Recipe Service. She also writes a feature column, "Letters from a Hill Witch, " at Lilith's Lantern.

Cora is the Grand Master and, with her husband, Victor, the modern cofounder of the Feri/Faery Tradition. She has helped train some of the most influential voices in Paganism today. A natural kitchen Witch, Cora worked as a hospital cook for many years, and often charged the food with healing energy for the patients. Her straightforward approach to the Craft has earned her the respect and admiration of many around the world.

Raised in rural Alabama, in the southern Appalachians, Cora comes from a family tradition of folk magic and healing. She received a two-year diploma in children's education from Jacksonville College in Alabama. She also holds a certificate in autobiographical writing from Chabot College in Hayward, California. She holds a ministerial certificate from the Covenant of the Goddess, and resides in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Where To Buy: Childhood Memories is sold exclusively by Acorn Guild Press.
