Overall, Castings greatly impressed me. I read a LOT of books,including a lot of Pagan books and older mythology material. The tone came across as fresh and direct, and the book contained quite a bit of information that was either new to me or very difficult to find elsewhere. I found it highly useful and will probably use it as a reference also.
It is the best intermediate-level book I have seen in a long time. Most of the books I read are aimed at beginners, advanced practitioners, or a general audience. This one is quite specifically an intermediate book, and I've been looking for one for a while since I so often say "a great beginner's book" or "for the experienced student" in my reviews.
Author's Notes: Ivo Domínguez, Jr. is a writer, an artist, a visionary, and a practitioner of a variety of esoteric disciplines. He has been active in Wicca and the Pagan community since 1978, and has been giving workshops since 1982 on Chakras, Divination, the Qabala, Ritual, Astrology, Herbalism, and other topics. He is the convener for Between The Worlds: A Grand Magickal Congress. Ivo was a founding member, and a past High Priest, of Keepers of the Holly Chalice, the first coven of The Assembly of the Sacred Wheel. He now serves as an Elder to covens of the Assembly. He is a Waterpourer trained by Shevierah Stonewater. His techniques are rooted in a synthesis of traditional metaphysical teachings, modern science, and memories from past lives. He is the author of Castings: The Creation of Sacred Space, Of Spirits:The Book Of Rowan, and Beneath The Skins.
