Magickal Connections

Author: Lisa Mc Sherry

Publisher: New Page

Category: New Age/Group Magick Level: All
Magickal Connections is a practical workbook for anyone interested in exploring the conjunction of sociology, psychology, and magic found within any 'Working' group. For centuries, sages and scholars have been fascinated by groups; the way they form, change over time, dissipate unexpectedly, achieve great goals, and sometimes commit great wrongs. Humans are social animals, for we naturally gravitate away from isolated circumstances into groups. But what, precisely, is a group? How is a group created for spiritual purposes different from that found in an office, or made up of friends?
After writing other books, and speaking about magickal group dynamics for several years, I realized that the Pagan community needed a practical, accessible workbook, one that examines the group within the context of being a magickal group and how it can best be managed. This workbook is the result.
“Lisa Mc Sherry has given us an excellent guide to pagan group dynamics—a valuable resource if you are in a group, plan to join one, or plan to start one.” —Christopher Penczak, author of The Temple of Shamanic Witchcraft
“Magickal Connections is filled with guidance and rituals that should be required reading. In fact, I know several groups whose members should be reading this book right now!” —Barbara Ardinger, Ph.D., author of Pagan Every Day, Finding New Goddesses, and Goddess Meditations
Finding the right magickal community is an important part of exploring our magickal selves. Whether that is a single mentor or a thriving spiritual community, coming together with others can form the foundation of a dynamic spiritual life. But just meeting regularly does not a healthy spiritual group make, nor does a simple desire to pass on the hard-won knowledge privately gained. What makes a healthy spiritual group? How do we find one, or make one?
Magickal Connections explores the nature of a magickal group’s dynamics from its inception to its dissolution, offering practical advice for people at any stage of a group’s life cycle. Potential leaders are guided through the transition from participant along with sensible exploration of their motivation for this change. With no-nonsense direction about the hows and whats of the mentoring relationship, expectations can be clarified at the outset. With its frank discussion of the politics of working within a group, Magickal Connections is useful for all members of a group, no matter their role.
Ř Find a group that is right for them.
Ř Decide whether to start a new magickal group.
Ř Recognize negative patterns in the Circle and neutralize them—without losing members.
Ř Change aspects of the self to increase harmony in all your relationships.
Ř Manifest a healthy and happy spiritual group.
