Publisher: Schiffer Publishing Ltd

Category: Pagan Children Level: Beginner
"Rupert’s Tales - The Wheel of the Year: Beltane, Litha, Lammas, and Mabon" Enjoy this storybook for young Pagans and their parents, but enchanting for all who read it. Join Rupert, through 75 beautiful illustrations that depict his vibrant world and learn traditional Pagan holidays and practices, from Beltane to Mabon. A ground-breaking story that collects, commemorates, and illuminates traditional, sacred Pagan practices and beliefs in a fresh, contemporary, and whimsical style. Join Rupert the rabbit on his adventures as he sets out to discover how and why people leave their homes to celebrate seasonal holidays in the forest where he lives. As Rupert’s journey unfolds throughout the seasons, he meets owls, fairies, and old friends who teach him about the Wheel of the Year. Beautifully illustrated, this book is an excellent starting point for young children being raised within the loose structure of the various Pagan traditions. You don’t have to be Pagan to be enchanted by Rupert and the magick found in his tales.
As a Priestess of Undia in the Elemental Witchcraft tradition, Kyrja often celebrates Sabbats, moon phases, and other magickal gatherings with "Friends of Rupert" and various groups near her home in west-central Florida. She considers herself blessed to live in the heart of such an active Pagan community where she performs "Rupert's Tales and Tunes" workshops at local festivals. She continues to work on future tales featuring Rupert and his friends, as well as writing fantasy-genre fiction novels. Kyrja also likes to write and sing children's songs, so she may burst suddenly into song at any given moment!
Tonia Bennington Osborn's life-long labor of love has been to explore and express the miracles that make up her world. Now the owner of her own gallery and framing studio, "The Red Z Gallery, " Tonia continues to create while fulfilling her dreams.
Born in Florida and raised in Ohio, Tonia distinguished herself as a serious artist by age 11 when she received an award for the Young Author's Guild for her work in illustrations. From there, her recognition and respect only grew. Her impressive resume describes and defines a successful and meaningful career filled with prestigious honors and awards. Formally educated at OSU, the Columbus College of Art & Design, the Dayton Academy of Design, Tonia expertly creates in soft pastel, graphite, watercolor, acrylics, and oils. Her favorite subject is figurative drawing and portrait work. Her favorite medium is soft pastel on suede-an art form which she has lovingly embraced and genuinely enriched through her own unique innovations and experiments. Tonia's work is displayed internationally at various galleries and private clientele.
Kyrja's book sells for $19.99 and can be purchased through the publisher at www.schifferbooks.com or your local bookseller, as well as numerous online retailers.
Author's Notes: It is my hope parents will read these stories aloud to their children at each of the sabbats each year, so they become integrated as a part of their child's upbringing, allowing their understanding of our ways and traditions to grow and evolve as they encounter Rupert throughout the Wheel of the Year each year.
These tales are also an excellent starting point for adults who are unfamiliar with what it may mean to "be Pagan."
