The Earthist is about reality, discovery, & faith in life!
The Earthist: Musings in Postmodern Pagan Thought

Author: W.T. Jeffrey [a Witchvox Sponsor]

Publisher: Glenreynie

Category: Non-Fiction, Earth Spirituality Level: All
The Earthist is a compelling reflection upon the profound impact human beings are having upon the earth, a challenging call to embrace the unfolding life given by the universe through the evolution of our planet, and a celebration of the pagan motifs that have for millennia embraced the true forces that make life possible.
Chapters in The Earthist include Interconnection which highlights the importance of relationships and the multiplicitous forces always at work in all things.
Inter-wards challenges readers to think about life and their life choices from a perspective which takes into consideration the interconnections which are always at work in life. Inter-ward thinking reminds readers that human beings are part and participant in the great web of life, but that all species share in the process.
Word Processing is a chapter that explores the way we formulate our experience and understanding of life. It challenges mainstream assumptions that human existence is dependent upon a monotheistic paradigm, and highlights the great power of words, language, and the force which is created when we name our experience.
At the heart of "Musings" are the chapters Earth, Water, Air, and Fire. Here W.T. Jeffrey celebrates the significance of the great elements with poetic prose and a poignant call to reflect deeply upon their meaning and significance to all life.
The chapters Emulation and Intersection explore some of the "secrets" for how things evolve and how the living processes of the earth unfold. Emulation is a bit academic, but not too difficult to grasp. Intersection may help readers understand the question of where to be or not to be, or at least develop their perceptive skills to know the difference.
The final chapter is titled Death. Not at all morbid as some would suppose, but a reflection on the life cycles we all embrace with a celebration of faith in the great mother and the processes that enable and engender the living and dying of all things. This chapter also deals a bit with such things as consequences, justice, and the basis for non-religious ethics. It is an empowering conclusion, no pun intended.
The Earthist finale is a brief fable called The Spider's Web. It is a little bit of fun, and yet a point made that needs to be well taken.
Ultimately in the words of W.T. Jeffrey "The Earthist is a simple person, content to be of the earth, gracious in disposition toward the larger universe, and sensitive to the evolving relationships which engender life. The Earthist is an objective sort whose passion tends toward experience, and whose experience is tempered by discovery, awareness, and understanding."
