Peers of Beinan: The Great Succession Crisis -- Digital Version

Author: Laurel A. Rockefeller

Publisher: Smashwords

Category: Young Adult Romance Level: All
Where does a complete world in another galaxy with its own flora, fauna, weights, measures, religions, and cultures meet with a compelling political romance examining the issues of gender politics in government?
Where can you find everything you love most about The West Wing coupled with everything you love most about Star Wars, Babylon 5, and The Lord of the Rings?
The Peers of Beinan trilogy is all that and more!
In book one, "The Great Succession Crisis" we meet young princess Anlei, daughter of sovereign queen Isabelle of house Gurun. The queen's own mother is high priestess of their planet, Beinan -- so naturally the adolescent princess thinks religion is nonsense!
Anlei is well educated, politically astute, and scientifically minded. But Beinarian culture is a feudal culture with a constitutional monarchy and a powerful Great Council representing nearly a dozen major feudal houses that evolved out of the need to end bloody feuds between the houses.
On their original home world, these feuds meant leadership fell almost exclusively to men, men capable of leading the house into battle. In the old times, female leadership was barely conceivable. And so, long before the Great Migration took Beinarians to their home on Beinan, the Great Council adopted the rule: no woman may ascend her mother's throne.
Now, in Beinan Era 6326, Princess Anlei is forced into a crisis created by the ancient law. Who she marries now will dictate the fate of her Gurun dynasty in Laurel A. Rockefeller's "The Great Succession Crisis."

5.0 out of 5 stars Not just for science fiction fans October 9, 2012 By PArailfan
I don't normally read novels, but the characters are so compelling I found that I enjoyed this book immensely.
Included with this book are two of The Great Succession Crisis' five data files (available in full as a separate e-book) . Of these, I found the glossary particularly helpful and interesting. The navigation is very easy and quite helpful in utilizing the glossary and returning to my previous spot.
I really look forward to reading the next book in the series! ----------- 5.0 out of 5 stars Great Succession Crisis: A must read. October 18, 2012 By momnoah
