An engaging story of friendship, dialogue and humour. An insightful and informative tale of magick, Wicca and mysticism.

Sorcerers of the Silver City

Author: Russell Knowles

Publisher: Booklocker.com, Inc. (15 Jun. 2017)

Category: Fiction, visionary & metaphysical   Level: All

This is a story of hope. That individuality is a key to something more permanent and spiritually meaningful against the backdrop of a dead, dusty, and mechanical, clockwork universe.

This is a story of growing up, of self-realisation and actualization against a backdrop of 1990s popular culture. You will definitely enjoy accompanying the main characters on their journey.

This is a story of friendship and of the hilarious dialogue and wit this involves; highlighting some of the character and witticisms of the north east of Scotland.

This is an amazingly revealing story of magick, Wicca and mysticism. Though there are no mythical wizards or Gandalf figures in this story, real magick is revealed. A scientist is exposed to Sorcery and key methods are clearly laid out. For the first time read about the people and events based on real-life witches that operated in Aberdeen, Scotland. You will get insight into the mind-set, skills and practices of real magicians, Sorcerers and magick. Although far from the mundane, this story is fantastic. This will inform you, this will challenge your views; you may never be the same again.

A most excellent dramatic tale. As a practicing Magician of more than fifteen years myself, it is clear to me that Russell Knowles has much esoteric knowledge.
The interaction between characters, and plot are replete with occult gems.

Author's Notes: I wanted to create a piece of work which (attempts to) amalgamate and unite a rational scientific perspective of spirituality with my own knowledge of the occult and magick. After many years of involvement and intrigue with the latter, I realise that magick has much to offer, as a window into our own soul. I have a background in science myself, like the main character in the novel; having an honours degree in the Biological Sciences. I therefore felt the need to communicate what I considered to be a fairly unique vantage point of these two, often polar, opposite sides. I also, very much, wanted to tackle issues of friendship, bonding and the occasional social tensions arising from relationships. As I began to create the story and the characterisation necessary to carry and convey these themes, the notion of humour and dialogue became my primary and preferred method of delivery. This was in no small part from being inspired by the writing of (principally) Irvine Welsh. Other influences I may sight are: comedians like Bill Hicks, The author Brian Bates (especially The Way of Wyrd) , Terence McKenna, Penny Rimbaud and Justin Sullivan among others.

I hope I have succeeded in creating a story where persistence in character and spirituality overcomes shortcomings due to lack of self-esteem. A story of dark mystical realism set against cultural recognised landmarks. A story that both entertains, enthrals, informs and even inspires all at the same time. Further I want to provoke thought and intelligence. This is my aim, now all I can do is let you (the reader) judge for yourselves.
