Embracing the Moon (Metaphysical Nonfiction)

Author: Yasmine Galenorn

Publisher: Llewellyn Publications

Category: Witchcraft   Level: Intermediate

New York Times, Publishers Weekly, and USA Today bestselling author Yasmine Galenorn brings you her magical nonfiction.

Embracing The Moon is a guidebook to following your unique spiritual path as a Witch. Based on a non-traditional, eclectic approach to Witchcraft, this system of natural magick draws on many traditions. You can use this powerful, versatile magickal system exactly as created by the author--or you can customize it as you wish.

faerie magick * hex work * Goddess rituals * earth healing rituals * elements & deities * magickal tools * prosperity & abundance spells * recipes for oils & powders * love & beauty magick * household magick * God rituals * shapeshifting & animal magick * candle & herb magick * magickal life mapping * protection & healing spells * rune charts & symbols

What People Are Saying About Embracing The Moon:

“All in all, I highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a good beginner’s book on magick and spellcraft, or anyone who might be looking for simpler spells, or spells that are less time intensive, but still magickally effective.”
Susan Gross, Cup of Wonder E-zine

“Looking for a fine guide to lunar influences and magical practice? Try this one. It covers the basics in considerable detail yet also offers material you can really grow with.”
Elizabeth Barrette, Hypatia’s Hoard, Yule 1998

“From the basic tenets of Witchcraft, to spellcasting, to ritual Shadow Work, this guide gives you all the options, expert insights and support needed to work natural magick in a way that is meaningful to you. Embracing The Moon is a superb addition to any metaphysical studies collection.”
Wisconsin Bookwatch, May 1998

“What makes her text worth reading is her strong foundation in ethics and the
entertaining style with which she presents her text. A strong emphasis on spell magick (from poppets to prosperity) with lovely poems and rhymes for the novice makes this a good, introductory text for many new students. All in all, a lovely book!”
The Unicorn July 1998

“Her invocations are beautiful and can spark your own imagination or provide you with just what you need, if you find it hard to come up with your own words of power…For those not bound by a rigid set of dogmas, this book will provide you with ample ideas for spiritual experimentation. I am looking forward to more books by this talented
Crow’s Cause; 1998

“This is the first book I’ve read by Yasmine and I am truly impressed. Her style is concise and very straight forward making it enjoyable reading. I will definitely read her other offerings.”
Celtic Connection, May 1998

“This intriguing text by Yasmine is sure to be of value to the Wiccan/Pagan community, whether newcomers to the Path or as a good refresher course to those of us further along.”
Tristam, Princess of Scota Newsletter, April 1998

“Easy to read and follow for even the newest of newbies, I can now see why others have so recommended this book over the years. There is a gentle firmness to the content, as though one were sitting with the author, and she was imparting the most well kept secret of the ages. It was not one to be put down lightly. My recommendation for this book is that you go and find a copy of it.”
Jodi Wetherup,, April 2001

“Yasmine is not a Wiccan, at least not in the strictest sense; she is, however, one of the most original voices to come out of the community lately.”
Lisa, Sibylline Order, 2001

“All in all, she doesn’t talk down, shoot sunshine, or wax very flaky, which is a refreshing change…This writer is very emphatically not one of the reincarnated Atlantean Dolphin Potato Masters, unless she’s hiding it very well…”
The Cauldron: A Pagan Forum

“I would recommend her book to those who practice from a creative, intuitive base, those who are comfortable with the concept of personalized gods, and those beginners who have read Starhawk and need more detail on how to practice without getting into trouble.”
Raven; Between The Words, WMFO

“Embracing the Moon has a cozy feel, as if you are discussing things with a close friend who gives you practical advice on everyday problems about money and love, health and beauty, making this an excellent book for anyone who doesn’t want to stand on ceremony.”
Brian Patterson,

“I found it to be easy reading, fascinating and just plain down to earth.”
Sue Sutton, New Earth Journal

“I really liked this book a lot…I find her writing unusually clear and easy to understand, but she doesn’t oversimplify.”
Jenett Silver;, Jenett’s Reviews

Author's Notes: I wrote Embracing The Moon to be the book I wish that I'd had my first few years in the Craft. This book is a compendium of my magick and a springboard from which you may leap into living a magickal lifestyle.

As I've said before, I'm a Witch, not Wiccan...this book is not just another guide to by-the-book Wicca. It is firmly rooted in natural magick using the energies of the elements, of the earth, and of your own divine self. I firmly believe that if you bring light into the world, you must also learn to walk through the shadows. For Nature herself embraces the concept of balance, and as we live and die, the cycle continues.

If you are looking for 'high magick' or for 'traditional' magick, you will not find it within the pages of this book. Bright blessings.
