WytcheHaven Weekend 2

by Patricia Telesco

Facilities: Plenty of flat, shaded tenting space. Some electric (extension cords required) , plentiful well water (please bring drinking water) , 2 flush toilets (and portalets) , 1 hot shower, wonderful consession stand with very reasonably priced food (the funnel cakes are a MUST to try!) . The owner keeps the land very clean and well maintained. Camp and cooking fires allowed along with teekee torches. Located within a reasonable driving distance of supply shops and site seeing locations (a great region for rock hounds) . Some camping areas are flat enough for wheel chair access (but may be difficult going) .
Nice sized community fire circle banked with natural stone. Labyrinths and meditation gardens. Creek with pools in which to swim or just enjoy the natural beauty of the area.
Vendors are very welcome and there's a special flat, clear area for vendor use. Excellent onsite security, however vendors are asked to help with the overall care and watch of vendor's row.
A limited number of RVs can be accomodated but they cannot currently cross into the main camping area. Pets are not allowed.
Overview: WitchHaven Weekend two was the second event held by I.S.I.S. (Instructional Society for Interfaith Studies) . The Instructional Society for Interfaith Studies is dedicated to the growth and self-empowerment of seekers from all spiritual paths, to share and gain knowledge as one in order to create a better world for all.
ISIS currently serves the AK community through educational and ministerial services including: Weddings and Handfastings, Rites of Passage, Spiritual Counseling, Site Blessings, House Blessings Memorial Services, Workshops. They are Incorporated under the Arkansas Non-profit Act (Act 1147 of 1993) June, 2005.
The WytcheHaven Weekends are spiritual retreats hosted by I.S.I.S. in order to help bring the AK community together in fellowship, and welcome those from other states to join in the fun! The weekend included a daily brewing of coffee tea and cocoa at Wytche's Brew (for which I was incredibly grateful) . The organizers provided a wonderful diversity of workshops for a small event that ranged from ethics and herbalism to drumming and digideroo making/playing. Musical entertainment was provided by FREQ who worked very hard on a ritual theatre production just for this event, and Sede www.sedemusic.com. Both staff and presenters were very pleasant, helpful and professional.
Note to Future Attendees: The weather in this region is prone to dramatic changes (going from over 90 degrees during the day to a chilly 40 around 3 am) . Please pack with that variance in mind. A pair of water walking shoes is also recommended if you enjoy hiking streams.
Issues / Concerns: It seems that about a month prior to the event rumors circulated that I would not be present, and that there would be some type of local "trouble." I am happy to report, however, that the event went off without a hitch and that a good time was had by everyone. Should anyone reading this review like to hear more first hand, or have any questions, don't heistate to contact me personally trish@loresinger.com or the organizers WytcheHaven@earthlink.net
