Ole Old-As-The-Hills (A Yule Story) by Merideth Allyn [1,255 reads]

Once upon a time when the truth was a lie and lies were all truth, this late December day was frigid. And, after a long, hard rain that froze everything to a glistening wonderland, eight inches of snow came, with more to follow if the heavy, hovering clouds meant anything. There had been a huge barn raising this past summer and tomorrow’s Yule festivities were to be held there. Their village was one of the more populated ones, but Goddess only kn... [more]

  • Coming Out of the Broom Closet by Lola Stardust [Wvox Sponsor] [1,576 reads]

I sit down with some friends and we start catching up since it's been a long time since we all last saw each other. We talk about our families, jobs, significant others, etc. and I take a deep breath. "I have something I wanted to talk to you guys about." They are all ears. I go on and tell them that I am a witch and explain to them the journey I have embarked on. And of course, this group of friends is completely on board, which I knew they woul... [more]

When you are in a religion that is a minority, and others are basically scared o... [more]

Everyone recognizes the terms "do unto others as you would want done to you" or “karma” or, of course, " harm none and neither harm yourself ". These are very easy concepts to understand, but to put them into action takes much work. I personally am well aware that I am 100% responsible for my actions. For instance, the other day I ignored my intuition and decided to make some poor life choices, which I immediately regretted. The next morning I re... [more]

    Author: Philip Heselton

    Category: Biography   Level: All

Philip Heselton's personal biographical account of the life of Doreen Valiente, described by Professor Ronald Hutton as "the greatest single female figure in the modern British history of witchcraft". Author Philip Heselton draws on first hand testimony and Doreen's own personal papers to reveal previously unknown details of her life with fascinating and sometimes startling insights. Adding to the still-emerging story of how an underground cult, described by some as Britain's only living indigenous religion, became a worldwide spiritual movement in the course of a few decades.
