In the old fairy tales Baba Yaga lives sedentary
(As in a valley or in a forest section)
and can not leave their accommodation,
because their magic power is connected to the place.
In later pre-Christian tales she moves very fast on foot
and is bound only by certain natural borders
(Rivers, mountains, forests, valleys) .
In fairy tales after Christianization the Baba Yaga got a broom,
a black cat and is - like the witches in us-
In the richly varied tales Baba Yaga appears
on the one hand as a lean and ugly old witch with iron teeth,
who lives in the woods. She eats people and decorated her garden fence with their skulls.
On the other hand it also acts as helping shape,
given the good advice or makes precious gifts.
She lives in a hut that stands on chicken legs.
Sometimes it is even said that they thus followed the dying man
and finally gets to be. Often the little house on chicken legs is
described as a hut with no input.
It only rotates in a specific word
and then to have a front door.
In other stories she rides on an iron stove,
running on chicken legs.
You can also fly in a mortar, she directs with the pestle,
and it blurs their footprints with a broom.
Frequently it is considered the mother of Koschei the immortals.
