Website Profile: Ancient Music, the site of duo Rigantona who are Corwen ap Broch and Kate Fletcher.
As Rigantona we play contemporary folk, inspired by the songs of our Ancestors and the spirit of the Island of Albion. We are especially happy to play for your handfasting or other ceremony (if you are in the UK) .

We love the ballads of Britain, many of which show traces of the magical shamanic worldview of pre-christian times. We are also fascinated by the old spell-songs, work-songs and animal calls which in a different way preserve truly ancient ways of thought and life.
Other pre-christian musics of Europe, Icelandic Rimur, Faroese dance songs, Sean Nos singing from Ireland and Runo-laulu singing from Finland also inform our performance. We have learnt (and made) many ancient musical instruments, lyres, bowed lyres, harps, bone flute, reedpipes, bagpipes, horns, kantele and more in our quest to recapture the spirit of Ancient Music.
However we are not just replaying the past, our music has a dark fully contemporary edge, (without the use of any electric guitars or drum kits!) . Its music we hope our Ancestors would understand, and that you will love!
We also play authentic historical music in authentic costumes and on authentic instruments, specialising in the music of the Dark Ages and Early Medieval Period and the Napoleonic War. So we can play contemporary Pagan Inspired Folk, or authentic historical music for your handfasting or other event. In addition Rigantona conduct engaging hands-on workshops in Dark Ages Music and Culture and Ancient Singing Styles for children and adults.
