Magicfolk

Category: Musicians

Website Profile: Magicfolk is a leading British esoteric-folk band, producing a blend of folk, celtic and prog-rock with rich vocal harmonies and an assortment of instruments, in songs with mythological, mystic and pagan leanings.
“Like the bright sun burning through the morning fog, Magicfolk come bearing tradition, vision, passion and mysticism” (Exposé Magazine)
Their material touches upon a whole range of esoteric inspirations, including those found in Egyptian, Greek, Celtic, Hermetic, Shamanic, Wiccan, Pagan and other traditions.
They've played at many esoteric events such as Conway Hall (Beltane Bash) London, the 3 Wishes Faery Festival Cornwall, Druid Camp, Eastbourne Lammas Festival, Myddle Earth Pagan Fed Summer Camp Wales, the Goddess Festival Canterbury and the Mercian Gathering.
They’ve also played at numerous festivals and venues including The Met in Manchester, Stortford Music Festival, Priddy Folk Festival Somerset, Wymondham Music Festival, Reedham Ferry Folk Festival and Ipswich Riverside Folk Festival.
“Genuinely something new for fans of esoteric folk, their lyrics sing of folklore and magic, evoking the mystery within the music" (Woven Wheat Whispers)
The music is grounded in acoustic instrumentation and layered vocals, which then often develop into raucous rock, jazz and psychedelic improvisations. They also have gentle songs which “take you to other more restful places”.
“Prog rock, celtic tunes and tight vocal harmony, spiked with prickly electric guitar. If you like Fairport Convention, Jethro Tull and Jefferson Airplane, you won’t be disappointed.” (Pagan Dawn Magazine)
Their new album "Tales of Power" is now available (Nov 2011) direct from their website.
"A raft of magical spells, a silver blade wrapped in lace" (Folkwords)

“Memorable and beautifully arranged” (Radio Centraal Belgium)
