Website Profile: Brocc - music, myth and mystery from the bards of the Badger
We are a pagan band based on the Wales/England border. The land and its legends, the ancient themes of the Islands of the Mighty - these are the source of our songs, both traditional and original. Our debut album 13 Moons is now available.
We have six voices: Anwen - with her clear and sultry tones, Anders - a deep chocolatey velvet, warm with rich celtic undertones - the wild man of Brocc. Hallr our mainstay, the Manicorn. Elin, the multi-talented musician, Mikael holding us together on octave mandola, and Clár, vibrant on hurdy-gurdy. A heady mixture, and one we hope worthy of our totem.
Brocc incorporate a wide range of instruments into a rich musical tapestry - from full volume with three bagpipers and two huge medieval drums to gently gently with harp and bowed psaltery.
Brocc is an ancient totem animal, symbol of the world we sing about, the world that makes us what we are. Deep at the roots, the heart of us. The same feelings and emotions move us - the voices and harmonies, the music, the rhythms we build into our music - all this is a celebration of who we are, where we come from, and the heritage we share.
