Website Profile: The Fellowship of Non-Reincarnationist Wiccans and Pagans (FNRWP, pronounced “fun-wrap”) is a group devoted to spirituality among neo-Pagans who do not believe in, or who are agnostic about, reincarnation – in the usual sense of “soul-migration from body to body.”
Some of us entertain other Pagan concepts of life after death (e.g. that souls may become “ancestral shades”) ; others doubt or dismiss the concept of a conscious afterlife, concluding that, after we die, our physical matter, energy, and consciousness simply dissolve into Nature, the “all, ” or the energy-stream. Many of us are not sure what we believe. And that’s OK!
The only certainty is that Death is a part of Nature. Death nourishes Life.
As of now, we are a minority among neo-Pagans. Hence we may experience a certain amount of patronization (“you need enlightenment”) , ridicule, or even ostracism. Some have felt pressured to believe or else be rejected from our Wiccan or Pagan path. In a religious community that usually prides itself in non-dogmatism, we think there should be more open-mindedness about death and beyond, arguably the Ultimate Unknown.
So we gather to share our stories, thoughts, pains, joys, humor and poetry; how our beliefs grew and developed; relevant books and articles; how we can overcome the fear or dread of death – or help others overcome it – without belief in a literal afterlife; planning appropriate funerals; dealing with grief; various ways to interpret “past-life memories, ” near-death experiences, and “spirit-communications”; and new understandings, or modifications, of traditional rites and lore.
