Website Profile: The Incognito Witch Project
Celebrate Hidden Magick!

The award-winning Incognito Witch Project is an ongoing series celebrating hidden magick that includes painting, film, music, dance, and artistic collaboration.

In film, the character of G (short for Goddess) was inspired by the very first painting of the series. G made her first film appearance as a fictional character in 2010, and her newest short film continues the artistic evolution of a hidden magick message. Watch "Incognito Witch: Paint My Life" at http://vimeo.com/molliekellogg/paintmylife

Incognito Witch works reveal the subject’s hidden psyche, often suppressed to meet society’s expectations. Mortals become magickal beings draped in mysterious fabrics, adorned with jewels and leaves, often wearing messy makeup with a signature flash of color under the eyes. These figures are striking and hard to miss, evoking a Mother Nature Archetype where power, strength, attraction, empathy and vulnerability are brought into focus.

Posing for paintings has been a bucket-list item for many people struggling with self-love and body-image.

Moving forward, I see my art as a way to promote self-acceptance, laughter, play, healing, community and personal possibility.

Watch “Mollie Kellogg Presents: Incognito Witch 2014” http://vimeo.com/molliekellogg/magick2014 for more about this series.

Reviews:

“There is a raw, powerful, and beautiful eloquence to these women. That will engage, seduce and even haunt the viewer long after you walk away from them. Work like this is the very best of what we do.” — Bob Hogge, Director Monkdogz Urban Art Gallery, New York City

“Mollie’s latest series, portraits of “powerful” women represents the latest in a long line of breakthroughs. Mollie always had the chops. What’s new is the development of her vision. Pretty has made way for beautify, simplicity seems to have been replaced with nuance and paradox. These latest images have a penetrating quality that I find tremendously exciting.” — Glenn Scott Michaels, ARTiculation

About Mollie Kellogg:

Mollie Kellogg studied photography, illustration, life drawing and advertising at Colorado Institute of Art. Mollie’s mother is an artist, and Mollie first tried her hand at painting on her mother’s works-in-progress when her mother wasn't looking.

After a decade of theatre work, raising two children and facing life-threatening health issues, her work changed dramatically. Today Mollie’s paintings are more conceptual, and often include herself, friends or family as subjects.

Mollie's mixed-media, award-winning figurative paintings have sold internationally and galleried in New York City, NY, Syracuse, NY, Santa Fe, NM, La Jolla, CA, Beverly Hills, CA, Solana Beach, CA, Laguna Beach, CA, San Diego, CA, Seattle, WA, Cheyenne, WY, Birmingham, AL, Cleveland, OH, Phoenix, AZ and Scottsdale AZ.

Mollie’s short films have screened at festivals in London, Jakarta, Mumbai, New York City, Miami, Mankato, MN, San Diego, CA.

Mollie Kellogg lives in California.
