Pagans Encouraging A Community Effort

Website Profile: PEACE strives to provide the foundations for pagans of all types to band together and create one community with one voice - one that will speak out against hate, fear, and prejudice based on religious preferences. Our goal is primarily to strengthen the pagan community and provide support for people who suffer everyday religious discrimination, and secondarily to educate the public about religious diversity so that this discrimination doesn't have a chance to continue.
I am so pleased to be starting on this awesome adventure! I have high hopes for PEACE, and I can't wait to see what happens here! I have big plans, but ultimately the course of this organization will be directed by the community it was built for.
My goal is for us to be recognized as a non-profit organization for the support of the pagan community, and to ultimately become a reputable resource on paganism for the greater community, as well as a reliable resource for support and aid to those of us that are tired of suffering ignorance and discrimination in our everyday lives because the general populace just don't understand us.
I plan for this to be done in three basic stages. In stage one I seek to feel out what involvement I can get from the pagan community. This stage is for building a firm network between pagans of all kinds, and establishing what the pagan community wants as a whole. Support groups can be established, and I plan for there to be many articles written here on this website about various forms of paganism so that we can start spreading education about paganism and what it truly means. I hope a bit of a pagan news section to occur, and other little tools to start really bringing our community together into something that can no longer be so easily ignored by the intolerant masses.
Once we are strong online, the fun begins! In stage two I would like to start hosting events where pagans can further come together and celebrate each other, and events where we start actively educating the rest of the world on our presence. I hope to really start campaigning for the fair treatment and understanding of the pagans in our communities, and I hope in time we will become the kind of organization that can realy make a difference when an injustice is being done.
My final stage is a bit vague, but if the organization gets large enough there are some services I would like to be able to offer, like a 24 hour hot-line for pagans who are suffering and need someone to talk to, recognization by the general public as a solid resource for education about paganism, and access to legal aid for pagans who have suffered gross acts of discrimination, harassment and intolerance punishable by law.
I am sure as we go on it will become obvious that some goals need to be reassessed, and some new ones may be added - I look forward to see what the pagan community comes up with!
