Website Profile: I am a Wiccan Illustrator by the name of “Steelgoddess.” I work in my studio at home with my husband and 4 children. I am a solitary practitioner and have used my artistic gift to capture the mystery and magic which surrounds the Craft. I am a self taught artist and work primarily in Adobe Photoshop and Corel Painter X. I also like to dabble in acrylic paint but digital art is my favorite medium to play with.
It is of no coincidence my most favorite subject to paint are Witches! It is an exciting process to see my vision slowly coming to life with their own unique personality that I hope causes the viewer to experience a strong feeling. I find great inspiration in Norman Rockwell’s ability to illustrate normal everyday people in snapshots of their ordinary lives which cause the viewer to identify and draw them in. As my talent continues to evolve, I yearn to capture the same style as this great artist and depict Witches in similar snapshots as it pertains to the Craft. You will find illustrations that focus on the more serious (such as deities and rituals) to the more whimsical and care free (a determined Witch running full speed in vintage style Football gear) .
These illustrations are created for a Wiccan’s Book of Shadows. Each of my illustrations are designed with a particular theme depending on a specific ritual or spell included. These spells were designed to be truly unique. The cover page is the true expression of my artistic vision while the accompanying spell pages were designed with the look of aged parchment that had been locked away in a Witch’s Book of Shadows for centuries.
Since launching my art career in 2003, I am still amazed at how quickly the interest in my Wiccan art has taken off. This continues to be very encouraging to me and I feel great pride and happiness knowing my illustrations continues to be considered worthy enough to be placed in a Witch’s personal Book of Shadows. Although illustrations are my trademark, I have also created lots of other witchy treasures! I have available hand painted original signs, original Enchanted Gift Boxes, Broom/Besom Hangers, herbal spell kits, Stick Witch decals (to counter the Soccer moms decals*grin*) for your car, Handfasting Certificates, decorative parchment paper, and much more in the works
