Website Profile: Bi-Polar Pagans is an online support group for people who self identify as pagan or pagan-friendly and also suffer from Bi-Polar Disorder/Manic Depression mainly. We also would consider others who are suffering from another type of mood disorder or mental illness.
We hope to make this a group where it is safe to talk about the challenges that this diagnosis brings with it as well as the advantages (yes, there ARE advantages as well as drawbacks!) and help each other by sharing our own proven coping mechanisms and practices as well as sharing our our experience of our pagan practices affect our symptoms for the better or worse. Other topics can include (just examples....we don't limit ourselves though we hope to remain mostly on-topic to a degree) : sharing of creative endeavors (Bipolars are known to be highly creative and artistic souls) , medications discussion, therapy solutions and types, shamanic experience and the label of mental illness, stigmas carried in our society by people who exhibit the symptoms of this "disorder", hospitalization, the psychiatric field in general, etc.
We only require you answer a very short and general (not TOO personal) questionnaire upon joining to avoid spam to our list. Please refrain from insulting or judging other members' experiences. Again, this should be a safe space for people but if a member allows their symptoms to take over and they begin to treat another member or members without the respect we all deserve, they will be first moderated and then upon the 3rd strike, banned from the list. We don't like having to state this, but to create a safe environment for people to share about the personal things we will be bringing to this group, there need to be rules. So that's the main one........to respect each other for our differences as well as our similarities.......and attempt to resolve any misunderstanding or dispute in a civil and balanced manner.
