Frenchy and the Punk (formerly The Gypsy Nomads)

Category: Musicians

Website Profile: "The amount of sound and energy this duo puts out is awesome... " Taconic Press Times
Euro-American duo Frenchy and the Punk, infuse their cabaret style with a steampunk and vaudevillian flavor rooted in folk, world and the vineyards of southern France.
Their non-traditional take on this eclectic mix of musical styles has won praise from critics and audiences alike.
French-born Brit. lead vocalist and percussionist, Samantha Stephenson and American-born punk veteran guitarist Scott Helland of Czech and Portuguese descent, make up this spirited duo. They captivate crowds by seamlessly combining cheeky ballads sung in English and French, danceable, modernized old-world inspired melodies, raucous live guitar looping and thunderous tribal-march-style drum instrumentals creating a provocative and theatrical experience. The two powerhouses don't disappoint as they unleash the raw passion of their love for music, dance, and a roaring good time!
Touring incessantly coast to coast since 2005 and racking up over 150 shows a year and five full-length albums and a live DVD, they bring their pulse-poundin' tribute to the free spirit lifestyle to alternative music festivals and mystickal, steampunk/sci-fi/cabaret conventions across the U.S. They have also toured across Europe in 2011 and 2012.
Attracting Celtic, Cabaret, Steampunk, Folk and Gothic music lovers alike, their CD recordings, most recently Hey Hey Cabaret (2012) Happy Madness (2010) , At The Carnival Eclectique (2008) , Eternal Summer (2008) , Thread & Stone (2007) plus their new Live DVD, Live at Bube's Brewery (2011) reflect the diversity of their fan base. Lifelong devotees of all things mystical, earthy and magickal, and honoring the balance of dark and light they both follow an eclectic path. Fiercely independent, they epitomize the spirit of creativity and the commitment to individuality.
Witches & Pagans Magazine 2010 "...an energetic hybrid of European folk roots, Punk attitude, World Beat Eclecticism, and traveling-player theatricality" (Phil Brucato)
Faerie Mag 2008 "I no sooner played the first track of Eternal Summer before I wanted to play it again. I don't jest when I write that there is an addictive quality to some of these tunes, and that I have listened to this album again and again!"
All CDs are available through the Frenchy and the Punk website, iTunes, Bandcamp, Amazon, live shows and at fine independent CD and metaphysical shops nationwide and in Europe.
Their tour schedule is available on the website: www.frenchyandthepunk.com
