Website Profile: We are a non-profit, educational center with herbal gardens and sacred land in King County, east of Seattle across Lake Washington, founded by Paul Beyerl and his partner, gerry Beyerl. We offer classes, workshops with access to an acre of gardens and woodland containing many species of herbs, fruit and flower; memorials of trees, plantings and bells for those who have passed over; a Stone Circle for meditation and solitude; and facilities for student research. Our programs encompass courses, workshops and educational programs offered at The Hermit's Grove, Cascadia Community College and Seattle Central Community College. With students throughout North America and a strong following of Beyerls' books, we wish to serve our numerous and diverse students. We provide nearly 200 top quality dried herbs, some books and more and a monthly print newsletter, The Hermit's Lantern.
The Master Herbalist Certification Program is ideal for Wiccan herbalists. As Beyerl writes, "It is gratifying to know that the work and research I have done over the past twenty years is of interest and will be continued by others. Since the publication of The Master Book of Herbalism in 1984 I have not allowed weeds to grow in my mental gardens. That book, which has become a standard text for so many, represents such a small amount of the basic knowledge with which we work. Over the years many people have studied from me - some for as little as a two hour workshop - and have gone on to boast that they are fully trained as Master Herbalists with my blessing. While they definitely have my blessings, they do not have my recommendation as Master Herbalists. It is only since moving what was originally called the 'School of Healing' to Kirkland and, with my partner gerry (he requests the lower case spelling) , establishing The Hermit's Grove that I have felt comfortable establishing a program of certification."
The Master Herbalist Program is structured for individual study by correspondence, allowing the student to move at a personal pace.
The Hermit's Grove is an educational division of The Rowan Tree Church, housing the Church's library, offices for the administrative, educational and publishing programs; and caretaking the acre of land which belongs to The Rowan Tree Church
