-- I thought this was going to be a suspenseful and scary movie. The only scary thing that I found throughout this whole ordeal was that this flick somehow made $35 million its opening week. I can understand about works of fiction asking you to suspend reality and parts of your brain function for a little while t enjoy fantasy. However, this is a movie trying to pass off as reality- so sorry if I don't become a vegetable. You have three film students who need to go deep into unfamiliar woods to find some evidence of the Blair Witch-fine. Why didn't they ask a local (all so willing to be helpful and give an interview) to show them there and out? -There were enough moments like this one that I could no longer play a brainless carrot. This happened so often that the audience, including myself, were occasionally laughing at their situation This shows that we could have cared the least in these characters after listening to them moan about being lost for 90 minutes. - Mike.
-- I was not offended as a Witch, but as a moviegoer. It was terrible. I am a big fan of horror movies and this one was so so so not scary. It was hyped to be the scariest ever and I was so disappointed. We wasted good money on it. The web site for it is better and scarier than the movie. Well, sorry to be so negative but it stunk. - Skyedolphn.
-- Saw the Blair Witch last weekend. Expected to never sleep without the lights on again! Scared? I think not. Fun to watch? Yes it was. The folks behind BW are brilliant at film- making. I can see where this may turn out to be a great cult classic. My daugher says, "I think this movie was made for people who have never been in the woods!" But still it was a good time at the movies. - Raven RedMoon.
-- Now, the "W" word. At least we weren't portrayed in pointy hats astride a broom. Nowhere in the movie did I see any blatant symbols of the Craft. The rock piles and stick effigies, while potentially Pagan, fit in with the environment, sorry folks, no flaminggoat heads here. My hubby insists that he saw a pentacle ring on Heather (the female lead), but I can't confirm this. Basically, I enjoyed the movie. I most certainly will not be in line tosee the five hour directors' cut. I thought it was a good psychological horror movie. See it and make your own decisions. - Bandelle.
-- I had read a few descriptions of the movies in the month preceding it's release so I knew to not expect much reference to paganism or Wicca. Not even many overly supernatural occurances until the obvious ones started happening. But if I may still say, that was one of the scariest movies I have seen in a long time! Enjoyed it a lot! - Ancasta StarDancer.
-- The film never showed any scenes that I found offensive. Personally, I just see it as the darker side; the side that shouldn't be, but IS. It was more of a look at in darkness of folk- lore and how sometimes you really should listen to stories about the boogie man. I personally think that the word 'witch' in this situation was the only explanation the simple town's people could tack on to stories of darkness. Them saying' witch' had nothing to do with Wicca. - Jazzabelle Minerva.
-- The only thing that got to me about the movie is that it plays with you head. It really makes you listen to the "bumps in the night". The genre of the film, I think, will be a catching craze. The method of film making the producers used makes you believe that the movie is definitely the work of a film student (meaning amateur video). The Blair Witch web site does nothing to tell you that the movie isn't real. And if you hadn't read the interview with the producers (I read that here at the Witches Voice), you would be confused and perhaps even a little curious to explore Burkettsville to see for yourself. All in all, the movie was very good and perhaps the scariest movie I have seen in quite some time. I recommend everyone see it. Witch or no witch, the tittle is what brought everyone there. - Kristina.
-- "Blair Witch" was a great scary movie! I enjoyed it a lot, and I really was frozen in my seat. The whole "witch" business really seemed like just an excuse for the premise of the movie. Admittedly, "supernatural" things did happen in the forest, but there was never any personification of the happenings. No green lady with warts appeared to put piles of rocks around their tent. - Otter.
-- I was ready to be scared. I was ready to be awed. I was not ready to be disappointed, but I was VERY disappointed by this film. Yes, the dramatic premise was wonderful. Yes, the actors were good, and they did a great job with the improvised dialogue, very funny in parts. Yes, I liked the "method filming" style. So, with so much promise, what went wrong? The basic thing that went wrong was that I was never scared! Not for a minute. I LIKED the woods. I LIKED the supposedly-spooky twig things that hung down from the trees. I LIKED the little piles of rocks. The spooky noises were not spooky enough. And where was the witch? Sorry, but I've been more scared by at least a half-dozen films! - OwlCat.
-- I just came back from seeing the Blair Witch Project-and I may never go camping again! I am a witch myself and I can't tell you how many times my friends and I have gone on similar "ghost hunts". This is the scariest movie I think I have ever seen in my life, and I have seen a LOT!! Kudos to the directors and to the fantastic actors. Blessed be (and maybe sleep with the lights on?) - gena.
-- We are tolerated only because people think us fools, or harmless. If the majority of people took us seriously, they would act against us. Humanity has not drastically changed in the thousands of years of consciousness, nor will it. It hates what it has harmed, it fears what it misunderstands, and it destroys what it can not control. Be careful where you tread my friends, the year is ending and there are TOO MANY people watching the calendar. - Daithi.
-- The one great thing about Blair Witch is that it has everyone talking about it and has even sparked a few heated debates about whether it is real or not and some people are actually headed of to find the bodies of the three characters. Now, how many movies have stirred up this much action? Not many I am sure. This movie will definitely go down in the history books and is destined to be a cult classic.-As far as being offended, well, personally I couldn't find anything offensive about it. They mention the myth of the Blair Witch. Nothing dark, nothing evil, nothing bad, nor nothing good. That's it! The crazy guy who murder the children was the only bad guy. So the Blair Witch doesn't give you a bad impression nor a good impression of Witches or Witchcraft. These are just my personally opinion, of course. - Ramsillint.
-- This movie was too bad to offend me. Or scare me or do anything- except give me a headache and make me hungry and bored.- To sum- I had a lot of problems with this movie. The fact that the word "witch" was in the title was the least of what I had a problem with. - Lily Elf.
