The Story...

"Mabon, " the song featured on my MP3.com site, appeared on Dandelion Wine's debut CD "The Book of Mirrors." My wife Staci and (my fiancee at the time of this recording) were working with a studio who's owner was formerly the HPS of the DAWN Coven, which she disbanded. Her husband was the engineer. They made us feel very much at home, as did their owner, a huge grey cat named (what else?) Bastian. I was inspired by a telling of the Welsh myth of Mabon and Modron, and I've always enjoyed the Autumn season as long as I can remember. This CD was nominated by the Washington Area Music Association for "Best New Age Album" of 2000.Since this recording, Gregory has released "UnEarthly Passions", his first solo CD, which the Alexandria Old Town Crier hailed as "Exotic and Dreamlike". Gregory was since nomited, again by WAMA, for "Best Contemporary Folk Instrumentalist, 2003".

Technical Notes: Breedlove SC25 guitar, with solid spruce top and walnut back and sides. Recorded on ADAT, using on condenscer cardioid pointed at about the 12th fret. Greg's guitar is tuned, from lowest to highest, CGDGAD.

Artist Profile: Gregory Lygon is a singer, songwriter and guitarist, currently residing in Culpeper, VA. A player of some 25 years, Lygon's technique and vocal range invite comparisons to Dan Fogelberg, Kenny Loggins or guitarist Al Petteway.
