Bardic Circle Featuring Pandemonaeon...
This Night I Ride
(by Sharon Knight & Winter)

Audience Count: 9,585
 The Story...
This song is a tale of a challenge, a visit to the Celtic underworld. The seeker goes to the Queen of Faery, seeking the grail, cauldron of all mystery and source of inspiration. She finds the grail is not to be given so easiliy, and a challenge is proposed. In the course of the challenge, the seekr realises it is not so much whether you win the race, but that you are willing to risk all.
This song was written as an experiment. Winter and I drew tarot cards for each verse to see what the song whould be about. We wrote each verse inspired by the tarot card and this is what unravelled. I can't recommend this technique enough for songwriters who are feeling stuck!
Recorded: Trance Jam Records/El Mundo Bueno Studio in SF, CA
Guests/Players: Sharon Knight and Winter are the founding members of Pandemonaeon, and played most tracks on this cut. Lee Neal played drums, and Laurie Lovefraft guested on backing vocals.which were played by Lee Neal. Other tracks on this album feature Mary Ellen Donald, a popular middle-eastern percussionist in the Bay Area, Bobby Cochran on drums, Peter Drescher on keys, and Joey Swails adding drum tracks and keys.
Technical Notes: This song incorporates acoustic and electric guitars, dumbec, bass, drumms, rainsticks and percussion, and layered vocals. IT was recorded in our home studio, at the time a very modest digital set-up which ahs since grown to a top-notch facility. Ii was mixed at D'wayne Wiggins" House of Music.
Artist Profile: Pandemonaeon evolved out of Sharon and Winter's mutual enthusiasm for witchy ambient spaces, Celtic and Arabic world music forms, and driving rock grooves. Pandemonaeon was created to answer the question "Wouldn't it be cool if Dead can Dance totally rocked out?" Like Dead can Dance, Pandemonaeon began as a duet and has currently evolved into a 7-piece world-rock fusion band. Sharon has a solo Celtic inspired album to her credit as well, called Incantation.
