Bardic Circle Featuring AITI MAA...
Cry (Wild Wind)
(by Caroline Spence, Colleen Gray)

Audience Count: 5,567
 The Story...
I wrote this one day when I was daydreaming and I felt I was taken out of time for a minute into this fantastical dream place. It became a song about being taken into the timeless world of faerie, falling in love, feeling spiritual bliss -- and then waking up back in the world again. Feeling that loss. The song also seemed to call up an even deeper loss, the loss of spirit - whether enforced through witch hunts, discrimination... the denial of the natural world. The song keeps bringing me new meanings and I thought I would like to share it with all of you.
Enjoy! Blessed Be...
Caroline

Artist Profile: Toronto indie band, äiti maa's present line-up originated in early 1998 when drummer David Drake and keyboardist/guitarist David Thomas Lynch joined co-founders and singer/songwriters Caroline Spence and Colleen Gray. Every member contributes to the development and arrangement of the music.
äiti maa's music is both richly textured and simple, a melodic, organic kind of alternative folk-rock. The songs spring from a deep, emotional base and range from soft moody ballads to upbeat quirky songs to heavier intense works. At times, jazzy, or Celtic elements will come into play.
This song, 'Cry (Wild Wind)' is a track from their first full-length album 'Window Seat', set for release in 2003. Visit www.aitimusic.com to download and listen to tracks as part of a free listening party!
"Rusticated soft rock with finely meshed female vocals and equally impressive interplay between keyboards, mandolin and acoustic guitar. Will make listeners think of the tradition-steeped melodies of Kate and Anna McGarrigle and the October Project." - Listen.com
"What beautiful music you guys write! I love stuff from Cocteau and the Projekt label, so when I heard you guys I found similarities in the style and sound that I really enjoyed along with your own unique delivery. You girls have great voices, too, definite ear candy... " - Tim MacAleese, Canadian Rawk Network
"This music instantly brings up images of the Smiths meets the Cowboy Junkies. It is part sixties folk and part twenty-first century rural meets urban adventurism... This is Adult Alternative all the way, the kind of music that appeals to Gen X’ers and sophisticated boomers..."- Chris K., Pro Critic Radio for GodsofMusic.com

Cry (Wild Wind)
(words & music by Caroline Spence, Colleen Gray)
CRY (WILD WIND) - Spence, Gray
Face the fires of morning Dawn a place awakening I run to the water look for my love left to cry wild wind cry wild wind
Walk with me to a quiet place come to take me come to take me on the wings of a night bird stand with me in the moonlight
Chorus: Cry wild wind cry wild wind cry wild wind
Woman come your daughter's crying the old world flickers, dying Hear her scream while witches burn the old gods wait to take their turn they enter through our open mouths
Songbirds sing & morning dew down by that river where our love must wait & our hearts still break at the river's edge where we wait for the dawn
Chorus:
How the river moves on & on & on life is moving past us it pools & it tosses it passes by cry wild wind
Face the fires of morning dawn a place awakening I run to the water look for my love left to cry wild wind cry...
