Bardic Circle Featuring Victoria Parks...
Song for Beltaine/Cliffs of Moher
(by Victoria Parks (Cliffs of Moher trad. Jig))

Audience Count: 1,604
 The Story...
Beltaine is fecund, fast and furiously fun, and so is the Song for Beltaine. I wanted to write a tune that was as rich in arrangement as the holiday is with all greening things, richly diverse in its living landscape. Of course, Celtic influence runs deep in this arrangement. I end the tune with an Irish jig that captures the rapid heartbeat of of the Fey Folk who trumpet the call to all life forms to go forth with great vigor!! "The Faery Folk are saying it time to go a-maying!"
Recorded: January 2003, Amerisound Studios, Columbus, OH
Guests/Players: Larry Cook, Mandolin, Guitar; Bernie Nau, Piano; Pat Mogan, Tin Whistle, Bohdran; Liz Mueller, Fiddle; Matthew Abelson, Hammered Dulcimer
Technical Notes: fiddle, piano, bohdran, tin whistle, hammered dulcimer, guitar, mandolin recorded direct to digital using a Mackie Drive system
Artist Profile: "Victoria Parks is a seasoned performing songwriter, specializing in acoustic Anglo-Celtic Neo-Traditional, humorous, and contemporary ballads. Her soaring voice ranges from deep and rich to lilting and ethereal. Her powerful, timeless lyrics cross cultures and history. She has a special affinity with folklore and historical subjects and has been writing and performing pagan music for the last five years. She is very much a part of the bardic tradition. She is acclaimed for her debut CD Sure Feels Like Home and is about to release her new CD Wild English Rose, a collection of mostly original songs that combine traditional folk and folk styles with Celtic and Pagan traditions. Wild English Rose includes songs that are spindled with faery dust and mystery, along with some great storytelling.
