Bardic Circle Featuring...

SONA ...

Millay-D
(by SONA)

Audience Count: 6,015

The Story...

This song, and some of the words from the song itself, were inspired and taken from the famous Poet Edna St. Vincent Millay. It is also in D, hence, the pun. ;-) The Joes were inspired by this piece, and added Bel's vocals to it when recording, thus giving it the mystical quality it seems to give one when listening. "Wherever she may be... in D... by the sea... in a tree..." was added to the cd's liner notes as an afterthought. This song has a trancelike quality to it, and like so many other SONA tunes, defies any real descriptive categorical placement. One really has to listen to it to feel the meaning behind it. It has the ability to take one to a place of contemplation and mystery, and allows one to feel the tides of change that ran like ever changing waters thoughout the history of SONA's music. Each individual in this group has always had their own style... yet in tunes like this one, it is easy to see how the three artists come together to form what can be descibed as a pioneer group in pagandom... and to feel what they are trying to do with their music, which is basically, just be a single harmonious being, created from three, in this diverse world of ours.

Recorded: Andy's Attick, 2002, Magyar Magick Productions
Guests/Players: Lyrics by Edna St. Vincent MIllay & Joe Credit III, Music by Joe Credit & Joe Credit III, additional vocals by Bel

Technical Notes: Joe III: vocals, mandolin, doumbec, noise track, Papa Joe: vocals, guitar, bass, aishiko, Bel: vocals

Artist Profile: SONA has been in and out of the pagan scene... and returns in 2006 after a three year hiatus to add more music to the world.
