A Dream Made Real
(words & music by Eric J. Blohm)Left to my own devices at such an early age I was drawn to the endless sky above All through the passing seasons, and turnings of the page I would fall in the perfect arms of love
Chorus: Arms upraised, hands to the sun No words for the Joy I would feel I now strike the chords and the drums All for a dream made real
Out upon the ocean, a dolphin breaks the wave I would drown in the beauty of the sea High up in the mountains, an eagle starts his dive I would soar an eternity of trees
Chorus
Gathering now in circles, heed the promise made all is known under a canopy of stars Now as we call the quarters and guardians of the way Gaia calls to the heart of who we are
Chorus

The Story...
At this writing, I'm about 75% finished with a full length CD titled Bridge The Distance. (Currently a 5 song demo cd-r is available) It's (admittedly) an odd collection of New Age, Rock and Middle-Eastern style music that I've recorded over the last 2 years or so. It's mostly instrumental, with the exception of two tracks, one of which is presented here, A Dream Made Real.
This song is about the joy of finding the true path home. While I was dedicating myself to Wicca, the Lord and Lady, the Sun and Moon, and the Earth and Sky, I realized that I've had these feelings all my life. I held these things in high regard long before I was able to put a name to my path.
The instrumental intro (up until where the vocals come in) was recorded a few years ago and sat unfinished. I had started writing the lyrics recently, and had a chord progression and melody to go with it. Around the same time, I was rifling through old tapes and MIDI files and re-discovered this intro. As luck would have it, the two fit together in the same tempo and key, so I began re-recording the intro with much better sounds than I had before, and arranging the whole song based on the pieces I had. Two lessons were learned here: No idea is a bad idea, and don't toss anything out.
Update: At my soundclick.com page, I've added a new piece called On The Dunes, Beneath The Stars, Part 1. It's the first of a 3 part suite.
Recorded: Recorded at home in a rather cramped spare room
Guests/Players: Es Solo Mio :-)
Technical Notes: Ahh, the magic of multi-track digital recording. All parts were played by me with the assistance of the wonderful sounds of my KORG X2 , Roland V-Drums and a PC with Sonar.
Artist Profile: I began playing drums in 3rd grade. I played in marching bands, stage bands, and drum corps all through school. I've played in a wide variety of bar bands over the years, and picked up piano and keyboards along the way. A few years ago, I decided that all of those playing experiences had to have a result of some kind, that I should find a voice of my own.
