Through the Trees
(words & music by Linda Fields)

Dance....come dance with me,
beyond the edge
of time and the sea.
Lose your wordly ways,
forget the past,
now it's here where you'll stay.

For I will enchant you.
There's nothing you can do.

Taste my sweet embrace...
with every kiss
I'll remove every trace.
Days pass on to night
and in my arms
I will give you new life.

For you are in my spell...
where mists of magick dwell.

Chorus:
Come dance with me...
beyond the trees.

(repeat from beginning once)

Come dance with me...
beyond the trees.
Come dance with me...
beyond the trees...
beyond the trees.
Dance with me.

The Story...

This is but one of many songs I wrote to go with a fantasy novel I am writing so there is a story in these lyrics and since I need to have at least two hundred words then I spose I should elaborate. There is a place in my world where once upon a time, it was told of an ancient people that caught the wrath of a jealous warlock. Never finding love himself because of his hideous appearance, he put himself to dwell in the darkest corners of the world. His anger grew until it consumed his very soul. He vowed to take his vengence upon every creature and to free himself from his life of pain. Setting out from the Darklands he crept through towns and cities like a disease until only the wind could be heard. The Monar people were perhaps the most tragic of all. The men were changed by the warlock into Water Giants and their beautiful wives were set inside the trees of the ancient forest. The giants were told they could break the spell... "...find and touch the trees your wives are in..." they were told, however, the giants were ocean bound and could never leave any shore. The forests were far beyond the cliffs that kept the giants away. It did not stop their efforts to try. Worldwide floods and tidal waves brought destruction to all the remaining lands. To this day, it is said the women of the trees have forgotten their human lives but long for companionship. Most of the giants evaporated over hundreds of years until only a few remained. Stories from seafarers surface from time to time of water men floating upon the sea in deep slumber as they dream of a time when they held their love in their arms. The wives prey upon any men who dare to enter the ancient forests and get sucked into the trees forever by their haunting spell song. It is thought that the warlock still lives...wandering from place to place...pitting friend against friend...bringing destruction to apease his empty, hungry heart. Careful where you step and plug your ears for you traveled beyond the trees into the ancient lands where the forests whisper enchanting spells to capture your soul.

Recorded: Recorded 2005 El Paso Texas in personal Studio
Guests/Players: Linda Fields: composer, musician, and singer

Technical Notes: Using my iMac G5 system, keyboard and microphone with music software, I was able to turn my office into a music recording studio though my recording equipment lacks in so many ways. Oh well....we all do what we can with what we have.

Artist Profile: You know....I created this song not long after a bad case of the flu that did a number on my vocal cords and just trying to breathe for these notes was difficult. I haven't re-recorded it yet but I am satisfied for now but plan on redoing the song at later time...I have more lyrics and instrumentals planned for a richer sound that hopefully will sound ten times better. Never-the-less, I do hope you enjoy it. You'll have to wait for the book release before you'll know how it ties into my story. For now, use your imagination to create your own conclusion.
