Peter Paddon ...

Interview With Robin Artisson
(by Peter Paddon)

Audience Count: 3,786

The Story...

I've known Robin Artisson for some time. For several years I did my best to avoid him like the plague, because of his reputation and my teacher's opinion of him. But finally I decided to check him out for myself, and discovered that not only is he very knowledgeable on the subject of Traditional Witchcraft, he has many beliefs and practises that mirror my own.

We have since become friends, and when he published his excellent book, "The Witching Way of the Hollow Hill", I knew I had to interview him for my Crooked Path podcast. This is that interview. It turned out to be a simple process to record (well, if you have two PCs, that is...) , but not before we'd tried unsuccessfully with a number of conventional but complicated methods - including hiring a "professional" to do it for us.

Robin is probably the most talked-about Pagan on the internet. You either love him or loathe him. He has a reputation for being confrontational and arrogant, but while it was once deserved, the Robin of today is much mellower, and too many people dismiss him unheard or unread because of that reputation - there are those who seem to have made it their life's work to destroy his credibility. Controversial, yes... he does not shy away from telling it as he sees it, however unpopular the result. But his writings are a goldmine, and guess what - witches are supposed to be controversial. We are the rebels, the outcasts...

This is my favorite podcast so far of the 15 or so I have done. I hope you find it interesting...

Recorded: Recorded using Google Talk and Audacity
Guests/Players: Robin Artisson, Author and Witch

Technical Notes: This interview was recorded long-distance - Robin was in Louisiana, I was in Los Angeles. The whole thing was conducted over Google Talk, and recorded on a second computer using Audacity.

Artist Profile: Peter Paddon is the author of two books on the Egyptian Mysteries, and the creator of the Craftwise series of spellcrafting DVDs. He records a weekly podcast, The Crooked Path, and is currently working on a book of the same name, which will be a grimoire for modern Cunning Folk.
