Bardic Circle Featuring...

Pendragon Hall ...

Hut Cleansing Ritual [Africa]
(by David Pendragon , Bill Hall)

Audience Count: 2,928

The Story...

One day in 1998 David purchased a "sample" CD called Heart of Africa by Spectra Sonics. On the cover of the CD was made the claim that a percentage of the sale of each CD would find its way back to the villages in Africa from whence the sample "snippets" were obtained. For those of you who don't already know " samples" are very short one or two bar snips of recorded audio, in this case they were little bits of African choirs and crowds or solo singers.
Davids inspiration was to try to put all the little snips back together to make a coherent "performance" of the original recordings and then to play along with them using various instruments and vocal adds.
This was an extremely tedious, time consuming "labour of love" that eventually evolved into the album "Tribe by Tribe".
With the assistance of Bill Hall [Great Bass Player !!!] the album and music was brought home as a once again, united musical work.
The piece that we present today is called "Hut Cleansing Ritual" and is now found on the new re-mastered album "Music 4 Water". The song is an African cleansing ritual and let me tell you, it really DOES work!!
Try putting the piece on "loop" on your player, then head off to do the household chores. The image that we see with this song is an old African man sweeping his dirt floor hut with an old straw besom [broom]. As he sweeps he is chanting a spell to cast out all bad energy from his home. It is hypnotic and entrancing, I know, engineering this sound took me to another world every time I worked on it!.
You will find that the link takes you to a page that explains what we are now doing with this very special music project. Please, if you can help or add your energy to the "spell" that we are working, we need your help.
When you get to the page, could you maybe spend a moment reading the words that are there. You can play the songs either from the small player on the right hand side of the page, or go to the top panel of the page and click on "Audio"
We hope you enjoy and connect with the music you will find on Music 4 Water, however for The Bardic Circle we would now like to present " Hut Cleansing Ritual"
This Circle is now open, So Mote it Be
