Hecate
(words & music by David Wood)

She's the Maiden who seduced you last night
The Mother who sees you through your troubles
Grandmother who will love you but can cut like a knife
Three faces of the Goddess of the night

Hecate
Hecate
Wooo woooo wooo
Woo wooo woo
Hecate
Great Hecate
Wooo wooo wooo
Woo woo woo

She will be the light to Death's dark door
She will birth you into life once more
Just the touch of her hand will heal woman, child and man
The guardian of the crossroads of life

Hecate
Hecate
Wooo wooo wooo
Wooo wooo wooo
Hecate
My Hecate
Wooo wooo wooo
Wooo wooo wooo

Hecate
Cerridwen
Dark Mother, take us in
Hecate
Cerridwen
Let us be reborn

Never fear she's never left
Breath of Life
Kiss of Death
My Hecate
Walking with her Hounds of Hel
In my heart is where she dwells

Walking with her Hounds of Hel
In my heart is where she dwells

I can feel you Hecate
I can feel you
I can feel you
Great Goddess of the night!

What about me?
Great Goddess
Whisper in my ear things I need to hear
Hecate!

Old woman . . . . .

The Story...

This song is written in honor of my patron Goddess, Hecate. It is a song both about the Goddess as well as to Her. When I perform the song live, I actually go somewhere else and it is to ¨ Her. It turns into a divine frenzy.
She likes attention.

Hecate was written and composed in about 3 or 4 hours. It began in a thunderstorm. One spring evening, the winds started blowing in. It was one of those magickal storms. My every sense was heightened.

I could smell the ozone in the air, hear the rain pelting the roof and sides of the house. I actually flung open the windows to let it in . . . despite the danger to my recording equipment... and started playing this little bass rhythm that you hear in the song.

The whole bass and drums were first; a sort of tribal sound. Then, the tambourine.
I tranced out and when I opened my eyes, I swear to you, She was sitting in front of me with those cat green eyes glowing across the room.

And I said . . . oh. So this is to be about you? And there it was. The words just flowed out of me like magick. Not much thought. So when I went back to mix down the levels and add effects, etc... I thought . . . the song was written in a storm, why not add it to the background all the way through? So I did.

This song is a devotion. Every time it is played in someoneˇ¦s CD player, boom box or stereo, every time it is performed live it is a Devotion to Hecate. Whenever it is heard, strength and enlightenment is given to the individual listening.

This piece of music is for all of the senses. I don't want people to just hear Hecate. I want them to feel and experience Her.
