Forcing the Demons
(words & music by Alyssa Yeager, Sue Balaschak)Twisting, sliding, striking She is so striking. Coaxing, demanding Listen…she’ll pull you in.
Hands that pound and push the demons down No you can’t, you can’t deny her. No you can’t, you can’t deny her
Over and over the rhythm will draw you in Over and over till leaving her becomes your sin.
Lay your hands on the alter of rhythm the altar of life. Your blood beats in time to the rhythm the altar of life.
Hands that pound and push the demons down No you can’t, you can’t deny her. No you can’t, you can’t deny her
Twisting sliding striking She is so striking. Your blood beats in time to the rhythm the altar of life.
Hands that pound and push the demons down No you can’t, you can’t deny her. No you can’t, you can’t deny her
Breathe it in No fear, no sorrow Breathe it in No more tomorrow
And you won’t silence the voices And you won’t cut the hand that holds you down.
Taste the air That tantalizes Taste the air that’s free of lies
And you won’t silence the voices And you won’t cut the hand that holds you down.
You’re forcing the demons within you with every sound. You’re forcing the demons within you with every sound. Please, here, now, no, You welcome the demons within you. Wake the one That sleeps in silence Wake the one That burns inside
And let her silence the voices And let her cut the hand that holds you down.
You’re forcing the demons within you with every sound. You’re forcing the demons within you with every sound. Please, here, now, no, You welcome the demons within you.
Breathe it in No fear, no sorrow Breathe it in No more tomorrow
No more No more No more tomorrow.

Forcing the Demons
(by Alyssa Yeager, Sue Balaschak)

Audience Count: 3,892

The Story...
The room is dimly lit with candles and burning embers of incense sticks. Hands move over drums together, following a single, driving rhythm. Some fall light and soft, others forceful. One woman leads: part of the whole, part of the one drum, and yet separate. Her hands like snakes above the drum skin, calling its energy forward, asking and demanding its cooperation at once. The life force in this room cries out to be captured, to be shared. It tells a story of heat and passion, longing and fear. Players and listeners are drawn to things promised in the rhythm. Woven in and out among dreams and imaginings, the drums play on. Remember the cautionary phrase: be careful what you wish for. Here you have the sense that everything you want, everything you didn’t even know existed, is waiting. Will you take the step forward and try to grasp it? Or will you step back into the shadows, sensing that you are not quite ready… This is the story of a path I walked as I made a decision that would change my life. I let the rhythm and the woman behind it lead me forward into a place I could not have gone alone. Each new rhythm, each new days pulls me onward until I am free of that which once held me down.
Recorded: Dark Tree Studios Spring 2008
Guests/Players: Sue Balaschak-drums, percussion Alyssa Yeager-guitar, violin, vocals

Artist Profile: Ask for the background of each member and you'll understand how this Cleveland based rock group came to have such an eclectic sound. Influences ranging from jazz and middle eastern to classic rock and new metal have caused Telling Point to classify their style as "Indefinable Rock". The commanding drums and melodic bass grooves will keep you moving as the sensual vocals embrace you. Each song is a new story: personal, inviting. By the end of the show you'll feel you know the band better than the person you're going home with. And with the band at least, you'll know you want to come back for more.
