Take the Path
(words & music by Yeager/Balaschak)

Take the Path

I would like to invite you in
Share a moment with me
The day is simple, a lesson learned
Becomes its offering.

Waste away your hours soon you waste away years
Bring it all down around you now you bring it down, bring it down
Weave the threads of your tapestry with each deed you think to do
Wrap it tight around you now you bring it back to you

Watch the sunrise before you sleep
Take this vigil to your grave
Give the moment all you are
It gives back all you could be

Waste away your hours soon you waste away years
Bring it all down around you now you bring it down, bring it down
Weave the threads of your tapestry with each deed you think to do
Wrap it tight around you now you bring it back to you

Take the path that comes your way and say I want to, I want to
Take the path that comes my way and whatever it brings me
I will cry out I want to, I want to

Take the path that comes your way and say I want to, I want to
Take the path that comes my way and whatever it brings me
I will cry out I want to, I want to stay

Waste away your hours soon you waste away years
Bring it all down around you now you bring it down, bring it down
Weave the threads of your tapestry with each deed you think to do
Wrap it tight around you now you bring it back to you

Take the path that comes your way and say I want to, I want to
Take the path that comes my way and whatever it brings me
I will cry out I want to, I want to

Take the path that comes your way and say I want to, I want to
Take the path that comes my way and whatever it brings me
I will cry out I want to, I want to stay

Only your footsteps in the dust on the step
As you take your leave of me.

The Story...

The idea behind “Take the Path” is a common one: seize the day. Too often I set long term goals for myself, tasks to accomplish, things that need to be done before I can relax. And in getting to these goals, these check marks on a to-do list, I miss the moments, the process, the enjoyment of the path along the way.

This song was written to encourage anyone who is striving to be in the moment. It seems a simple thing that is rarely simple to do. To those who have mastered this ability, I give my respect, and a watchful eye to see what I can learn from you.

The story here is quiet. Come spend time with me, let me enjoy your company, and please enjoy mine. Let me learn something from you, let me teach you what I can. Let’s see if we can’t get something out of this moment, together.

When the next path, the next choice comes along, I want to follow it with passion. Not merely to accept that this is the next step, that life will take me where it will, but to be active, to engage, to want it. Take the path that comes your way and say “I want to stay” (stay on the path, don’t stay in the same place.) Grasp it in both hands and love every minute.

Recorded: Dark Tree Studios, Cleveland OH, 2009
Guests/Players: Alyssa Yeager, vocals and guitar
Sue Balaschak, hand drums and percussion

Technical Notes: Djembe (Alex)
Larivee Acoustic Guitar (Rhea)
Pearl floor tom
Zildjian China cymbal

Artist Profile: Ask for the background of each member and you'll understand how this Cleveland based rock group came to have such an eclectic sound. Influences ranging from jazz and middle eastern to classic rock and new metal have caused Telling Point to classify their style as "Rock of a different nature". The commanding drums will keep you moving as the sensual vocals embrace you. The Telling Point Acoustic show provides listeners an intimate connection with the band. Each song is a story: personal, inviting. Whether it’s the djembe groove or the poetic lyrics, you’ll want to take this music in and let it touch you.
