The Story...

This was the first chant I ever caught. Honestly, I don't really think of myself as a song-writer, more like a "song-catcher, " because sometimes these pieces of music just drop into my head, fully formed.... like this one did. This was my open invitation to Spirit, to sing through my voice, to play through my hands, to open the way for music, magic, and mystery.

There is an ancient Jewish prayer, which says, "Adonai, s'fatai tiftach, ufi yagid tehilatecha, " which can translate as "Beloved, open my lips and I will sing your praise." I suppose this song is my version of that prayer.

Spirit heard my call, and answered abundantly. Now, nearly twenty years later, the music flows and the Muse whispers her inspirations to me, and still, the way is open, the river of music flows.

It's sort of this deal I made with the Universe, "Look, you sing these songs into my head; I'll sing them to everyone I know, and then we'll all sing them back to you, in harmony!"

As Rabrindranath Tagore, the Indian poet, wrote so long ago, "God like us when we work, but loves us when we sing!" May the ways continue to open, gently and gracefully, joyfully and peacefully, for all beings.

Recorded: Originally in Goshen, NY, then again in Las Vegas,
Guests/Players: Abbi Spinner McBride, Josselyne Price, Mike Breene

Technical Notes: Voice, djembe, dundun, shakers
