The Story...
 It's interesting, the title of this piece is a directive to take action, when the way this piece came into being- well, it felt really passive to me. This chant, like some of my others, fell from the skies. It, like so many of my others, was inspired by an all night alchemical fire circle... but it started months earlier.
"Pass Through the Portal" began to come into being at MayFire 2011. We were marking a death in the family of fire, and in the midst of the tears, and the collective grief and sorrow... the beginnings of the lines "All things change, " and "That which is remembered never dies, " both began to come through.
It was as the next BoneDance, as I was contemplating the ritual structure of how and when to burn Katlyn Breene's portal structure, that we had the idea bringing the portal in, letting people pass through it, and then burning it...
That's exactly when the repeating phrase "pass through the portal, go through the gate, enter and be re-born" fell into place, and all three lines synced up and interwove around the Fire.
So I brought a few sparks back to share with you. Happy Samhain!

Artist Profile: Abigail Spinner McBride is a musician and artist, based in Las Vegas. She is a highly skilled facilitator of fire-circle technology, and the co-author of Universal Fire Circle Alchemy. Her latest album, Fire of Creation is a collection of her original music that has been inspired by the fire circles. Abbi is also the lead singer and percussionist for Zingaia. Her recent release, Dancers of Twilight, has won critical acclaim. She travels worldwide, performing magic, belly dancing, and teaching drumming, chanting and movement workshops. She spends her free time gardening, cooking and practicing the art of levitation as lead assistant to her husband, magician Jeff McBride.
