Fairy Queen
(words & music by Hobbyhorse)She sits on a throne of twisted vines She hands me flowers that sparkle and shine With stems that stretch and lean
She leads me to the edge of the wishing well But it seems I've forgotten how I fell Into this pool of dreams Into the hands of the Fairy Queen
On a boat built of leaves and sticks She takes me sailing through waves of bliss Through azure and emerald green Toward the land of the Fairy Queen

The Story...
Fairy Queen came out of a memory that I had of a dream in which gesture was more important than form. The colors and light were intense and sparkly. I was in an energetic place full of enchantment. Whenever we play this song, I visit that dream again. Or was it a dream? It was a vivid place or state of consciousness that felt like another reality. In that other realm, we are not in charge, but that’s fine. Sometimes the highest magic comes when we let our selves get swept away. - Annie
On this recording Annie plays acoustic guitar and Phil plays mandolin. The high notes of the mandolin evoke a feeling of the fairy realm. An electric piano adds low bass tones to express the profound depths of the earth. In the introduction Annie plays our most magickal fairy bells.
We have played this song at many Pagan festivals including PantheaCon, Merry Meet and Ancient Ways. But it was actually written in honor of the Celtic Midsummer Fairy Festival in Fair Oaks, CA. We’ll never forget all of the colorful fairies, big, small, male and female dancing to Fairy Queen and throwing fairy dust in our hair.
Recorded: Dec 2009 at Hobbyhorse Studio
Guests/Players: Annie, Phil
Technical Notes: Guitar, mandolin, bells, electric piano, witchy voices
Artist Profile: Hobbyhorse's music is a folk fusion of musical and mythical influences from around the world. They offer stunning originals and have a soft spot for the traditional songs of the British Isles. Hobbyhorse's sound is an intoxicating blend of soothing and exciting. They combine the raw beauty and romantic sounds of acoustic instruments and female lead vocals with the adventurous spirit of rock. Their vibe is mystical - an inheritance from their San Francisco bay area psychedelic roots. But they are as down to Earth as it gets, believing strongly in the power of real music - made by real musicians - playing real instruments.
