Spike

by Moonwolf

A week ago, our sweet little Sudan Plated Lizard, Spike, passed away.

We shared 13 years and two months of his life with him. He had a very cool and gentle personality and even got my sister to be less afraid of lizards.

He was always patient with our nieces and nephews and the other little ones that visited him. The only time he ever bit me was when his eyesight began to fade and he thought my finger was a worm. He let go right away and looked a bit worried, so I put his meal in front of him so his nose could find it for him.

I watched him grow and change, as I have done and continue to do with other pets. Some people ask, “Why keep taking care of animals when you know the end result?” My answer is always this: "Life is life; theirs is no less precious than ours. My life would be so much less without having their little spirits to share it with."

We will miss his sweet little looks, how he titled his head to see us, his cute little habits and most of all, his company.

May the God and Goddess hold you and keep you safe and well little friend.

Blessed Be!
