 Second Degree Initiates Announced November 20th., 2004 SIOUX CITY, IA --- A year and a day's worth of intense magickal study and a two-day initiatory ordeal earned five Siouxland Wiccans promotions to the Second Degree of Priesthood in Siouxland First Wiccan Congregation. The women, who have held their first degrees for periods of time ranging from one to two years, now have the right to the title of "Reverend" in the Iowa nonprofit corporation. According to SWFC bylaws, Reverends Daphnea, JoEllen McCord, Jacki Saeemodarae, Marie Yeska, and Betsy Singh-Anand, are now authorized to teach Second Degree classes, develop the curriculum, and preside over most religious ceremonies. Perhaps most importantly, they are now authorized by the church to perform handfastings. The initiation ceremony, whose details have been promised to be kept in confidence, was presided over by Reverend Jeva Singh-Anand at Primus Temple, a Pagan/Magickal sanctuary in his personal residence. One of the church's founding members, he has been a Wiccan for close to twenty years. Siouxland First Wiccan Congregation began as a "Wicca for Beginners" class a little over three years ago. It was held at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Sioux City, and the Wiccan church in the far northeast of Iowa still convenes there for classes, sabbats and Esbats. From left to right: Rev.
