Winters sleep

In a dark sky so crisp and clear
The moon grows silver bright
Breath freezes in the air
And skin turns cold and white
The earth is still and sleeping
Frozen beneath snow and ice
Resting, waiting to be renewed
A peaceful slumber is the price
An idle pause to gather strength
Dream time healing to waken strong
A rest from giving, to begin anew
The earth dances to the seasons song
