Sentient//Sentient Lost

~Sentient //
Only we; mankind, are borne into bondage...
nature lives freely...in mastered harmony,
with Terra and Sea, ...wind and rain, ...
beneath ever changing skies~
where clashing, crashing elements
create a perpetual symmetry
that exists with a quiet tolerance...
an almost sentient obedience...

//Sentient Lost~
All this technology, and still
we are no closer to seeing...
no closer to being in control, almost ebbing away
from our pervading soul.
Indulgent to the point of being lenient...
with our memory failing to recall...
faded, jaded and dull~
by our own lack of applied discipline, ...Self -reliance
dissipates to a transferance of thoughts
behind glass and circuitry, ...
that alleviates the need of pen and page
until the silent "crash" occurs,
incurring cryptic rage!
Who can with finality claim, ..
technical and advancement are one in the same.
When a simple glitch of science
can extinguish art in the blink of an eye...
it's creation gone forever; quickly forgotten
all but a few remembered lines.
Scrambled and scattered
within a lifetime of thoughts, and notions...
recipes and potions~
recalled only in subconcious dreams.
Almost cloak and daggerlike schemes...
that finally recede as sleep approaches waking.
Leaving wistfulness to replace wishfulness,
and realizing this (Sentient) loss,
could have been parried...
if time spent with the quill, ...
had Not been so harried.

Author's Notes: When I first began using a computer, I was writing poetry without any type of back up sytem in place. When my computer suffered a systems crash, and I had lost all but the first drafted part of the poem I had been working on. I was very upset, and in my loss created the 2nd part of this poem...since then I have learned to make darn sure I have saved several copies of the work in progress at it's different stages. I usually write it down on paper first now, and then transfer it to a data file. Live and Learn!
