Rise Above the Raging Storm

by Eve Spiritsinger
 Age Group: Adult

Like tempered steel the wind slashes through brick & mortar, Wood, flesh & bone.... Nothing left untouched, ....no one left at home...no one left alone
Boarded up & abandoned like an old western ghost town Houses with empty glassy eyes as the storm rages down...
Debris flying through the air like confetti thrown by the pinwheel's circling motion.... Seen again as if in slow motion....no notion of what is to die away & what is to survive the wrath All of us fear standing in Nature's untamed, unbridled path, ...
Her winds wrapped in swaddling clothes left on unattended lines. Climbing higher and higher until the ground is lost....the Earth falls away beneath Elemental feet ....a true feat in overcoming defeat....left to hear the heartbeat as it beats a steady, deadly beat
The tears come with the shouts and cries of those who through newly opened eyes have lost touch with what they have sought to keep a tighter hold of
Amid the angry winds that blow about our ears like screams of tortured machines switching gears and then suddenly & unwillingly they come to a grinding halt...leaving us to find whose at fault, for an act so heinous that it strips away our false security... like a child thrown into darkness when the light goes out.
Leaving us shivering as if hiding from the monster while under blankets pulled tightly over our heads, too afraid to come out.
First to break free into the open air from where I have stood anchored to my mother's hand and look skyward....taking in all before I let my gaze fall...upon a beaten & bruised landscape Knowing there was no escape for flower & tree....I am amazed at how many still stand Tall and proud. Deeply embedded within the Earth's flesh She is thick skinned after all...and now as she begins to nurse her wounds we begin to do the same Committing to memory the given name of that which has left us in stunned silence & yet thankful to have been spared. I accept it as Divine Grace that has held my other hand tight and led me through this purging time of Aeon's lofty Flight.
Author's Notes: This was written for those who found themselves in the path of a Hurricane during the tumultous summertime (late season) weather & weren't sure if you would stay & protect your homes or go & protect your families & yourselves.
*For all of you who stand against the storm....may Goddess hold your hand, protect you and lead you through it unharmed. I offer my light & love to you all! Namaste ~Eve of Isis
