Its Not

Its not that you remind me
of the loss of any thing
you see my cup does overfloweth
and I do not want for any thing
Its not that you remind me
of the power of this ring
our lives are very wonderful
and my wife means everything
Its not that you remind me
of any better recent times
nor do I seek out comfort
to ease the guilt of any crimes
Its not that you remind me
of the desperate acts of Men
who’ve mongered power for a thousand years
By keeping down Women
Its not just that you remind me
of great Love that’s all but dead
or the mysterious way of the woman complete
and the beautiful things she said
Its not just that you remind me
of the good fortune we all heir
(a sorry fact that most don’t see it
so they don’t know enough to care)
No, you remind me of wiser tyme
when Gods and Goddesses were equal
You remind me of
An honourable ancient time
And give me hope
for a 21st century sequel.
