The Wild Dove Hunt
by Cernunnos Poetry
Age Group: Adult
Blood curdling on a waxing moon,
three-times-harm’s been suffered,
scribed answers found in ancient rune,
it is time, old omen’s have uncovered.
Arrives she falcon fledging pre-ordained,
The sorceress who's dreamed my dreams,
thirteen moons have waxed and waned,
Again all things are possible, it seems.
My dark noble horse is waiting for me
and we are ready, healed enough to ride
cantering in the moonlight will be easy
we’ve got the strut back in our stride!
Just two spirits helping make things right
in this tragic game of Life we must all pursue
when my honest steed and I take flight tonight
we’ll not harm but we'll set gently out to ravish you
There’ll be no sacrifice in this wild chase
no bloodspill - no, just sweet sacrament -
no bitter tears to streak your lovely face
there we’ll make up no reason for lament
When moonlight breaks out from the cloud
when your Beauty bright in shadow light is cast
the sound of hooves will bear down loud
then plucked you'll be from clutches of your past.
I’ll sweep you up into strong arms
from Earth’s dark gravity you will be freed
I’ll take you far from all source of harms
There we’ll satisfy your every passionate need
In the silvery moonlight we re-unite
Abandoning old ghosts and all inhibition
celebrate pure wildness and Love this night
giving ourselves over to most primal intuition
The old souls’ Wild Hunt gets manic there
when our inner nature’s set so magickly free
then if social mores and guilts come to bear
you’ll think this arcane tantra can not be.
So I will cherish instead the morning light
that forever dances in your fine dark hair
Though being together would feel so right
its being apart that forever keeps us there
To preserve that elusive prey such beautiful Love
there’d be no choice - we’d only have to part
All who ever captured that blessed wild dove
must release Her freely unharmed with One Heart.
