Baby's Breath & Barbed Wire

Age Group: Adult
Delicate rose, forever in bloom
against war’s toxic ugly plume.
Always a fresh new baby’s breath
against the waste of senseless death.
Forever a Mother still shining bright
against lost homes smoldering in the night
A lover’s breathless gasp to come
louder than any killing car bomb.
Compassion, hitting harder than a bullet
Promise, more worth than any winning full bet.
Honesty, far greater than the grandest tale
Faith, sweeter always than the hand of Fate
To the color of Love, spilt blood is ever pale
Sweet Love, prevailing over bitter Hate.
A softly spoken gentle word
cutting deeper than anger’s swinging sword.
Authentic death-bed kiss and loving hand,
the most precious gift in any land
Though we may shine no more than the stars
in the presence of the Sun
Though in this Life we accumulate scars
we’ll not let Darkness think it’s won.
