Closing the Water Cycle

by Cernunnos Poetry
 Age Group: Adult

) O (
Closing the Water Cycle
) O ( O ) ( O )
When once you walked so softly Over the deep moss of our miraculous bog Where every step was as treacherous as proud Did you feel me then, beneath your feet so light? I had waited there for you so long... where the only nutrition fell from the clouds where the plants had nothing to eat but Light where even some of the flowers were carnivorous
Everything was so desperately hungry there...
When you dip your paddle now into our rotten lake dark waters of beautiful love though desolate its shore Do you feel liquid me still holding you up above with the promise I would never forsake? To protect you from the predators around To forever keep you from the dangers below To preserve your Peace with my unwavering Love. When you and my lover were chatting on the bridge Talking about the weather, summer's end, and the news Did you hear me in the river running through below? Running cold over the jagged rocks and black ooze Babbling over top of the secrets carried in the wind my promise now to protect her peaceful heart She’s so kind - 'best she never know.
When you feel Hasting’s fresh spray upon your face Where I promised all you ever wanted Do you remember saving my life in that place? Before you cast me down again into the dark waters of sorrow? Part of me drowns in that undertow now, and will drown there in every tomorrow.
I don’t go to that haunted town much anymore.
When you wade off Lake Ontario’s blue and noisy shore Where the only music is the rhythm of our Love, the gentle waves upon Her sand Do you feel the ebb and flow of me still lapping at your thighs there ‘pulling us down again into our dark depths below where I am still your midnight horseman, and you are still my moonlight whore,
So Divine. Your shine will forever dance upon the dark waves of my heart there, off Lake Ontario’s blue and noisy shore. - Lost sacred shoreline -
Everything moves in slow motion there now. Last summer when you would not let me come or let me go, Were you running or hiding then from your fears? Last summer when the clouds and rains were so persistent Did you taste in the incessant rain my salty tears?
This summer when it never rained upon your once verdant place This summer when your well ran dry, and I made myself so absent Did you look upon your parched pastures and recognize my aging face? Did you feel my absence in the drought, in the rain that wasn’t sent?
Now watch the morning sunrise shimmer on the placid sea There, downstream, where you’d think I’d finally be You’d be mistaken if you thought my journey there complete Because, by then, in the rain and mist I’ll again belong Falling back down to my northern bog again Enshrouded in mist, an ethereal liquid bird song There I would wait for you forever if there a chance for us again to meet I’d wait forever there for the chance to support again The light and beautiful weight of your pretty painted feet.
